How did this happen???? Are the Raiders so far up against the cap they couldn't possibly sign him? Please don't tell me they had room, and just chose not to sign him? Very odd start for Chucky.

Reportedly Gruden never even met the guy. Sucks, but looks like it was long in the making. Gruden now has two first rounders to build the team in his image. That is if Reggie doesn’t F that up.

Fine, you don't want to resign him, but he doesn't even meet with him face to face? That's a great way to piss off all of your other players at a time when you're trying to get them to buy in.

He wants guys who wanna be there...

You can want to be there.... and get paid. Hagman's liver hit the nail on the head, how do you think the other players feel now that they lost arguably the best defensive player in the league and the coach didn't even meet with him. Stupid move of Chucky's part, this is a very bad look for him.

This is Mack's doing. He wanted a pay day even though he was under contract. I hate it. I read that the Raiders wanted a pair of #1 picks and the Bears offered the most in trade. The Packers are my number two team, so it's not good for them either. Some things you just don't have control over and this is one of them. This was a business decision. Mack was all business as much as the Raiders. The modern NFL sucks.

They had room. They could have made the deal very cap friendly so he wouldn't have even been that much of a bigger hit in future years than he was going to be this year under contract. I've got mixed views as a Raider fan...gotta see what the final deal is...I hope it's more picks than two #1s.

Mix views as well, as it sucks because he's amazing (and very badly needed for the Raiders). But, we'll see what comes of it. If they get two great defenders out of the picks then I'll like it. Again, this is completely if Reggie doesn't screw it up as usual and draft someone who almost died or with a severe injury

2019, 1st, 2020 1st, a 3rd and a 6th. Bears get Mack and a 2020 2nd round pick.

Giving up a 2nd rounder? That sucks!

But then again, Reggie's 2nd rounders have been something else other than Carr.
Personally, I think its crazy to trade away one of the top 2 Defensive players in NFL .. In prime of his career (Donald) for draft picks. Guy was a locker room leader to boot. Players and fans pissed as they should be.

Now they cut Martavis Bryant because he’s gonna get suspended, and Mario Edwards because he sucks. That makes their last three 2nd round picks + a guy they traded a 3rd rounder for this year all being cut.

I realize that’s sacks aren’t the end all be all, but Mack has averaged .63 sacks per game in his career which is excellent but not truly elite production. Ziggy Ansah who’s hardly seen as a generational talent averages .61 sacks per game. Mack did have the 15 sack year aided by his huge game against the Broncos but in general he’s been a 10 sack per season guy which is nice but not commiserate with his hype. Mack gets talked about like he’s a Von Miller level pass rusher but the numbers tend to suggest otherwise.

Overall I think it’s probably still a decent deal for the Bears but ultimately that’s going to depend on their record these next two years. In particular their record this coming year will dictate how good of a deal it is as the defensive line class in the next draft should be one for the ages. If this costs them Nick Bosa or Ed Oliver then I’m not a fan of the trade.

23.5m for a Rush linebacker? I’m not sure that’s good business either. With the rule changes teams like the Patriots have allocated more and more resources to the offensive side. I think there is some merit to that.
