OK, so now that it is summer time, I have a few extra minutes to look at things.
I think from a macro aspect, the scholarship distribution will look like this going forward. These numbers are what they will look like after attrition and a recruiting class, 2 or 3.
QB - 4
RB - 7
OL - 15
WR - 10
TE - 5
DL - 10
OLB - 9
ILB - 8
S - 7
CB - 8
Spec T - 2
With that said, I think that there will be players that are recruited at one position but will change positions when they arrive, players such as McGriff come to mind. So the TE/WR/RB numbers may fluctuate a bit, some years 5/10/7, some 6/9/7 or 4/10/8.
I think you will see some bigger S be dropped down to field OLB as well.
I will probably look at this again when the official summer roster or fall rosters are announced. When those numbers are set for 2018, we can get a better idea on how the numbers for 2019 might play out.
At this point in time, we sit at 84 officially, but I think it is 82 unofficially. I believe there will be 2 more announced in the next few days. I originally thought that 10 guys would leave, right now it looks like it will be closer to 8. So right now, I have a hard time seeing the 2019 class get all the way to 25. As of 5/30/2018 I think it will be 21. 15 seniors plus 3 over plus 3 not currently filled (will be filled by walkons for 2018).
