Announcement is for his family & teammates only. Still think if this were Indiana it would be open to more than family & teammates. This screams another school...I'd think UK. If not it's another. You don't close off an announcement if it's the home school. You have a local party announcement.
It is open to the public, chatter more so for IU in Ft Wayne the last couple days

Bossi:
Down to Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan State and North Carolina, Brooks really got tongues to wagging after a recent unofficial visit to Kentucky and I don't know if anybody has a great gauge for this one yet.

For a while now, I have favored Indiana, but there has been lots of credible talk that said not to rule out Kentucky or Michigan State and that North Carolina is likely going to be just a bit too far away from home. Since that last visit to Kentucky, the majority of the talk has shifted to the Wildcats and Hoosiers.

As best I can tell, I still lean to the Hoosiers on this one, but I would like to see what other information is out there before logging my official FutureCast prediction.

Interesting. I thought I heard that KB Jr favors IU, so I wonder if this is bad news for us.
People just say this stuff so they have something to say. It’s a trope. It allows the recruiting “analyst” an out in case his prediction is wrong.

FWIW, it never occurred to me to take “Time to be selfish!” as a negative for UK. The only way it’s a negative is if it means “Time to play selfishly!” I think it’s more likely to mean “time to disappoint all the locals and do what’s best for you”

Read the comments and Daniels is answering ppl questions about recruits...

1. Someone asked who he thought UK would add to the ‘19 class and he said a very good shot at Brooks.

2. Someone asked about Todd reclassifying to ‘19 and Daniels thinks Todd will stay in the ‘20 class.

3. Also someone asked about Mcdainels and he repsonded...UW?

Nothing earth shattering but just some more info.

Very true. Who knows. I like your interpretation better though!

Need Brooks Todd and at least 1 more big. Don't count on either EJ or Richards or both coming back. If Vanderbilt can be drafted EJ certainly can. I don't think Richards can even make a G league team for any long period of time but he or Cal may figure the switch is never gonna flip and he ends up somewhere other than UK. Someone will rise up this summer that we've probably never heard of.

Not that he couldnt be drafted, but Vanderbilt was far more than anything EJ is as a freshman. Coming off an injury he came in and averaged 8 rebounds per game in only 17mpg. The kid was a basketball rebounding savant. Montgomery is loaded with talent and has a higher ceiling but they're 2 totally different players who have done 2 totally different things to impress scouts. So far, Vanderbilt was a much more worthwhile risk. He was billed as an athletic rebounder who could handle the ball. Thats what he showed. Montgomery was billed as a long athletic stretch 4 who could hit jumpers but has only knocked down maybe 2 or 3 jumpshots in 30 attempts. Not a good look.

If we go into next season with EJ as the starting center, the team may take a few more losses than we are use to. I just don't see the fight in Nick Richards that would make him dominate or even consistent for that matter.

Jerry Meyer just reiterated his UK prediction for Keion on Twitter, though isn't counting out Indiana fully yet.

"I am thinking Kentucky, but wouldn't be surprised if he picks Indiana"

He is the "lead expert" on Keion Brooks through 247. Not sure what that means exactly, I kinda assume it means he has been following the recruitment closer than any other analyst on there.

The lead analyst on Brooks on the 24/7 site is Brian Snow. He lives in Indiana.

Regarding the take on Brooks, I'd look to see what Michigan State fans are hearing. Since they have 2 sons of one of their assistant coaches as Brooks teammates and former Spartan Jaren Jackson Jr's father is an Assistant Coach at LaLumiere. I'd take it they'd have good intel on this recruitment.

When the kid tweeted, "time to be selfish" in his tweet about announcing....that to me says sorry local folk, this is a business decision and UK is better for my my future ...
I believe it was a Dad quote, not Keion. Who knows what it means.

Lots of talk about getting Brooks and Todd.

I think that means we are out of the running for McDaniels and Hurt.

McDaniels is going to UW and Hurt is going to Duke.

Brooks and Todd would be nice consolation prizes, especially if we get Montgomery and Richards back.
Todd is not coming if Monty and Richards are here. Too much competition for the 5 spot.

Brian Snow is no doubt dialed in to Keion's recruitment, but Meyer is the lead analyst on Keion.

We are F-ing Kentucky! If a kid doesn't want to be here then don't come here. I'm usually called a sunshine pumper, but really I just try to look for the positives with the team I love and usually they are easy to see. However, I'm growing tired of kids using us as a stamp that they were recruited by the best. I'm sick of kids supposedly coming here as a business decision. Come to Kentucky because we are the best in the business because we have a passionate fanbase that will treat you like gods. Because the exposure is hard to beat and so on and so on. But mainly come here because you want to play for Kentucky.

Don't get me wrong I want the best players, but at some point, we have to reclaim the fact that this is a privilege to play here. If that means we end up with players that are the second tier guys then so be it. The funny thing is Brooks is a second tier guy and should be dam happy he has this opportunity. If a kid wants to play for his home school I get it, but we have to showcase ourselves as what we are. A very special and rare opportunity unlike any other. I guess I am getting a little irritated with recruiting. We take the best a showcase them and we take 4 stars guys and get them to their best. Like guys like Shai and Herro. Sorry for the rant. I just want kids that want to be here for the right reasons and the exposure and success we have with kids making the NBA should just be an added plus.

I’m not sure Herro and Hag are both gone. Especially the later. Lot of scouts don’t think they are ready. Would really benifit Herro to come back. Hope they learn from PJ we’ve had so many leave that weren’t ready

From what I've been told and witnessed at a couple of events, I'd trust that Meyer has no clue what is going on. He's lazy...doesn't go to events and when he does, never watches the games--he gets stat sheets and BS's the other guys covering to get some of their takes. Amazingly, many of the coaches in attendance do the same--have backs completely turned to court and too busy yapping with the other coaches there. It's how guys like Jerry place Austin Rivers ahead of Anthony Davis as he did when he was at Rivals.

I'll take Snow's word over Meyer 100% of the time.

I don't disagree with you, I'm just stating he is technically the "lead expert" as labeled by 247.

He's usually right when it comes to the crystal ball though...him and Slater both.

But I concur, if Snow or Daniels were to log a pick for UK it would be even better.

....so UK currently trails UL and UF in recruiting....interesting.

Arizona has been one of the targets of the FBI probe and they are still getting top recruits. Will Sean Miller/UA have any NCAA violations when this shakes out? It certainly looks like handing out illegal incentives is paying off.:grimace:

Slater should've taken over Meyer's spot--he's at all the events, works his butt off, and knows what is going on. Evan and Brian do too. Meyer is awful. He waits to see what the others do and then follows suit.

Didn't say you were disagreeing, just filling you in on what a sketchy dude Meyer is and how he's really not worthy of being in the spot he's held. Knows a lot of people and his Dad's legacy helped a lot.

What was TJ’s reasoning for picking Kentucky for Brooks? I saw where he said he would discuss why on his show but I never listened.
