Amazing win! They were NOT tight at all! Shot lights out with confidence…Flex sets, dribble drives. You just felt they were going to win in overtime.

Acting like the game last night would have happened 99 times out of 100 is also crazy. The whole point of this thread is to point out that it doesn't matter if you have a team full of 5 star kids you still gotta play. Calling pike out for recruiting is stupid.
It’s the exception, not the rule.

It's really not though. Every year this happens. It's a 1 game do or die tournament literally anything can happen. Pike recruits fine. If he didn't we wouldn't have made the tournament 3 years in a row out of the big ten. You play that game 99 more times ND doesn't score 50 points in the paint maybe not even 20. Brey out coached him no doubt. Doesn't mean pikes still not a good coach.

When was the last time a team like St. Peter’s won the natty?

That’s the point, they can make something happen for 1 random game where it all comes together, but can they do it on a consistent basis?

That’s the difference.

One of my daughters lives in Lexington. I told her to watching for bodies jumping out of windows as she walks down the street.

Whatever their record and bad losses, today they played with poise and confidence . Making their free throws, inbounding the ball , going for rebounds and great passing. Congratulations to St Peters. And to the big 10 naysayers, I am betting there will be 6 teams in round of 32.

There were morons repeatedly commenting that there shouldn't be AQ from small conferences 🤣

This is what March Madness is all about. This is why it is the best sporting event in the world every year

Nothing wrong with AQ.
Just make them play in the first round instead of making much better teams play extra games (such as Rutgers).

Also, Jets beat both Titans (#1 AFC seed) and Bengals (AFC Champion).

Just because an underdig wins one game doesn't mean they arent still a lower ranked team.

It's not like all of a sudden St. Peters is a better team than Kentucky.

The tournament is all about the Herb Brooks quote. Adjusted for the realities of this game

"If we played 'em ten (one hundred) times, they might win nine (ninety nine). But not this game. Not tonight."

As I mentioned in a different thread Cal is on my short list of coaches that I despise.

Imagine if Rutgers lost to St Peter’s in the tournament? How many “fire Pike” threads would sprout up on this board?
