We have a big test on deck for the Cats with an exhibition with Texas Tech Friday. Has anyone seen whether Toppin or Williams will be playing for them?

Toppin's injury holding him back possibly, while Williiams is a 5th year guy.

According to this article, Williams court date is set for December 4th, but maybe they are eligible in the meantime? I can't tell.

Tech has transfers Gibbs-Lawhorn and Cruz Davis in their backcourt. UCF transfer, Stillwell, is the guy pushed out for Williams. Bagayoko played in the Spanish Liga ACB and is also a possible impact player.

I can't predict what will happen in the game. But I can predict what will happen on this board:

1. Kentucky will either win, in which case there will be 60 threads reminding us of the Purdue exhibition of last year. Or...
2. Kentucky will lose, in which case there will be 100 threads saying J Batt can't afford to wait until April to dump Pope.

As for me, I'd like to see continued signs that this may be a better defensive team than advertised. I'd like to see Wilkins take better shots and relax out there, not try to do too much. I'd like to see N'Diaye be more assertive. I'd like to see Moreno be more aggressive on the boards, and also Big Franck continue to show signs he'll be an excellent back-up center.

Despite the fact that it is an exhibition and doesn't count in win/loss column and both coaches will be trying various sets on repeat, wild line up combinations to see who plays well together, and watered down versions of their offenses looking for positioning and movement execution over scoring... This board will over-react either way win or lose.

The Cats could win by 100 and there will be 30 threads bashing Pope's substitution patterns or why he played his starters so long and risked injuries.

The Cats could lose by 5 and look good all night and there will be for sale signs in Pope's yard and 7 threads begging to hire Billy D.

The Cats could win by 20 and there will be 25 threads on the lack of energy, how bad our uniforms looked, or reinforcing that the game means nothing and it was an exhibition.

The same usual people will start those threads regardless.

I just wanna see effort, improvement, cohesion, and execution. Clean up the turnovers, show that our defense can do that against higher level competition than last week, and come out healthy. Really would like to see the guys having fun and cheering for each other (this early) and get the tightness out of the way that comes with playing on this stage. I think Wilkins was so tight he probably hasn't gone number two since the Little Rock game.

You hit it on the head. We could win by 20 against TT and tmhalf the board would say "Yeah, but...."

I want to win every game we play, they keep score for a reason whether it’s an exhibition or not lol. But, I hope to see an improvement on ball security along with the team playing with some chemistry. They’ve been together for a while and hoping to see better play from last Friday which I suspect we will.

Well, dang. Rothstein just had McCasland on his podcast - Toppin isn't even practicing yet. and eligibility issues are dogging not just Williams, but also Stillwell and Atwell.

Maybe eligibility is different for exhibition games? The game doesn’t count and is nothing more than a scrimmage. I’m sure you can play whomever you want without NCAA issues.

A lot of the 5th year guys are being held out though like Skyy Clark for LSU.

Hard to remember it is an exhibition and both coaches are trying stuff.

It doesn't count so I would love to see some better offensive sets.
Defense played pretty well last outing, I would like to see that or more.

I think we will see three things happen.

1. We will win and show continued signs of improvement.
2. Pope bashers will still be kicking field goals with their pets
3. I will be encouraging those same bashers to get in orbit around deez nutz

things i'd like to see to feel better about the upcoming season:
  • moreno showcase an inside game, not just put backs, open dunks
  • wilkins be more efficient and selective in his shots
  • diallo do something that he can excel at...defense, A-T ratio, something
these guys are 3 of our 4 horses and they need to be consistent at a high level. if not the season is toast.

Injuries and absenteeism are considered a valid excuse for every team except UK?

Toppin is ahead of schedule with rehab but still has a while. Williams should be in their lineup. Read that today.

Show Improvement, play with fire and stay healthy. That’s a win. Of course we all want to win the game and hopefully our guys hate losing. I want to see less mistakes and a clean game from Zoom. Overall, for us to look like we’ve been together a few months practicing. A lot of potential here.

We will get pressed a lot in my opinion.
we really struggled getting the ball in bounds and by the time we did we had 20 seconds to run a play.
Pope will get it fixed!

Oddly, I did not, just because I watched him play with Pitino at Iona and a little bit at St Johns. I know he's much better than he was then, but I never saw him with Hofstra.

Will he even play point or will it be Gibbs-Lawhorn? They are employing a similar 1G/2G structure to our backcourt.
