One KSU player suggested UK players were NBA cocky. When I watched that game, I thought the cockiness was displayed by KS, not UK. I think that cocky chip on their shoulder and getting through the rigors of the Big 12 is what won the game for them (the difference).

And now the truth comes out. ESPN is so determined to smear Kentucky they become fake news. But it is out there now. I got a call from my daughter who is a die hard UK fan from birth about how her friends at work were telling her how bad of a sport UK is and that is why people hate us.

So ESPN did their smear job and you can't get it back But thanks CBS for giving the truth. Now will ESPN retract their story?

This is such a silly non-story. The notion that heartbroken kids are poor sports if they don't stand around and wait for the victors to finish celebrating, just for a meaningless handshake, strikes me as just plain dumb.

But then I've always thought way too much was made of the post-game handshakes. I don't really care if competitors shake hands, or acknowledge each other at all, after the competition is over.

Like I have said many times.......if you HATE UK then you will use this fake narrative to help your point. Handshakes are over rated Especially in a game where all your HOPE for the season is over!!!

Having some experience and being upper classmen probably makes you confident. This team is not cocky, why would they be?

Like we need another example of the ESPN bias, they have the platform and they can say whatever they want.Just as they did with the Ariz/Miller/Ayton story, maybe some of it they got right but it seem they got more of it wrong but like Tammy Wynette stood by her man ESPN wants to stand by their story.

According to ESPN we are the bad guys and we always will be no matter what the topic or situation. We need someone to call them out every time they do it,come on Mat Jones do something worthwhile, take a stand for the school you make a living covering. You have a platform, use it,take on the big bad evil media.

Somehow the self proclaimed “worldwide leader” still has this as a “top headline” on NCAA men’s basketball page:

KSU players irked by no Kentucky handshakes
http://www.espn.com/mens-college-ba...cky-wildcats-players-left-court-shaking-hands

Part of the “beauty” of the Internet is the ability to update stories whenever new information becomes availabile.

Sadly, it appears that ESPN is so busy helping rehabilitate Grayson Allen’s image, that they don’t have time to correct repudiated errors in their smear campaign against UK.

I will be so f^@&ing glad when Allen is gone from college basketball that I may go out and trip someone. If only someone would throw him into about the third row of the stands before he goes.

If I'm not mistaken the game before the same thing happened. While LC was celebrating on the court Nv lined up and ended up walking and not waiting. Happens every game.

Difference this time is the whole idiotic “disrespecting” culture. You can easily see this with a couple KSU players bringing in the NBA to the discussion. This was about envy and getting digs in and an all too complicit media to run with a narrative. The funny thing is, evidently it is not “disrespectful” to expect the losing team to sit around for the postgame celebration, however long, to shake hands. Game over, instant celebration, shake hands and then to the victor goes the spoils and the extenden celebration.

ESPN is crap and always has been crap they have their agendas on CAL. Now NIKE doing all they can to help Duke and hurt Ky because Phil Knight is pissed at Cal. NCAA turning their head on K and Duke on players and cheating. So just hang on for a wild ride until the old rat rides off in to the sunset afraid that will be after he gets number 7 & 8 has 5 now think he is going to try to get to 7 or 8 before he leaves

Sadly it's too late.People will believe what they want.
True, once the story gets out there it out there. If you hate Kentucky it just gives you more hatred to store up. Few will even hear about the retraction and most who do will sluff it off.

Loyola Chicago will beat them. I'm amazed we lost to a team so poor after showing such hope. Win or lose the UK vs KSU game had no flow and was the tightest officiated game I've seen all tournament. It's amazing how inconsistent from crew to crew the NCAA is.. and how the game was called exactly the way KSU needed it to be.

Lies make it around the world before the truth can get it’s shoes on.

I’ll make patiently for ESPN to publish the truth and to apologize.

Setting aside how IDIOTIC these statements from the KSU player are to start with, it's just another example of how ESPN is out of touch with their own best interests, which has caused them to lose viewers and millions of dollars.

The NBA is a HUGE part of ESPN. By not shooting down this story, not only have they pissed off the biggest fan base in college basketball, they have also allowed FUTURE NBA players from UK to be FALSELY put in a bad light.

The KSU players tried to imply that UK's players really didn't care about sportsmanship because they were moving on to the NBA. ESPN's management is SOOOOOOO STUPID, they allowed that narrative to be put forward, which in turn makes their PRODUCT look bad.

It is amazing how the people that run ESPN are out of touch!!!

There is a picture out there (I think I saw it on KSR) showing UK players and coaches going through the handshake line with KSU coaches. There isn’t a single KSU player in the line. But that doesn’t matter to the media because they only report what fits their narrative regardless of the facts.

Even a friend thought that our Coach did not try to shake hands. He was mad at the situation.

I did not know how to react or refute what he said. Seems the media wanted to blow up on us for something that did not happen.

For the most part, we are a classy program.

Now if we could only get referees who don't purposely call fouls against worst free shooter, we would have a perfect world. The truth is out there, trust no one

Much ado about nothing. I'm glad we didn't do it 60 yrs ago when I was in HS. I wouldn't have wanted to do it if we had won or lost. I might have been like Chevy Chase in Christmas Vacation

ESPN quit being anything close to news when their coke head got in charge. They have all these diverse folks who have no connection to sports but love to lecture and pontificate to us heathens. I don't waste a second watching ESPN unless it's a game I want to watch or maybe a 30 for 30. The rest is unbearable elitists trying to be clever.

This is just like during a game when they call 2 quick fouls on UK's best defender and then even it up by blowing 2 fouls on 2 different opponents later. The damage is done, there is no makeup.

Most people wont see this, but they saw 2 days of Kentucky bashing and ESPN wont correct anything.

People that don't see the bias are too ignorant and arrogant to understand it. They are morons, pure and simple.

The drive-by morons that have stopped by here over the years have been incredibly ignorant. Saying things like..."K never has coached in front of anything but sellouts in Cameron since he's been at dUKe," or "K-ville invented camping out for tickets," or "everyone knows the ACC invented the post-season conference tournament," or "UK fans must not realize that Helms titles were how titles were determined back then."

And it continues and will go on and on and on...

I have said this before and even a UK fan called me a liar. I was at Cameron near a decade ago now. During that time coach K had called out his students on campus for attendance. When we went to the game that night the corners were not full and the gym was nowhere near full. Espn cameras will hide it they've done it before.

Some people really believe the only way to feel superior and enlightened is to stand firmly in the middle and be above anything that might be considered a "conspiracy". I've been around long enough to know that "conspiracy" can just be a name to throw on a situation to cover and evade. If you can't flat out prove 100% to these people, which is tough in real life, they will dismiss anything as a conspiracy. And that's not where the truth is.

Take the recent Ufo's for example. Still considered a conspiracy even when it's factual that something is flying around the globe defying the laws of physics. But because it could be spiritual in nature or threaten our ego, we just label it a conspiracy and call it a day.

These types do this routinely, even here.

For the record, the CIA coined the phrase "conspiracy theory". Lol. Yea.

I didn't even know this was a story... I turned my tv off after the game and haven't turned it back on since (life gets much easier to deal with when you don't stress out over other peoples opinions). I finally came back online today and saw this nonsense. Just stupid. Back to not paying attention to their narrative again.

This place was unbearable the last few days. I would check in and leave as fast as I could.

Now we are getting back to what we do best, which is protect our turf from the trolls. Like the one in this thread, they entertain me because they are so uninformed and don't know it. Nothing makes me laugh more than someone who is trying to act like he knows something when he doesn't.

You do know that Wade hasn't played tonight at all? Kinda makes you think he shouldn't have played on Thursday. And, anyone who saw the video knew that Vando wasn't able to practice at all on Wednesday and walked in with an awkward gate that looked like a horse with a broken leg. He was clearly hurting. To say that he should have played is indeed the essence of stupidity.

Yep, Rival fan looking more and more stupid. Wade should never have been on the court on Thursday.

No I think you're missing the point. You knew exactly what Wade's injury was (enough to know that he shouldn't play, in your opinion). Yet you just admitted "I don't know what Vanderbilt's injury is". Why? Why is it a secret. Wade's injury isn't a secret. Why is Vanderbilt's. Next....
I never said Wade shouldn’t have played. I said the typical recovery time for a stress fracture is 6-8 weeks. If he could play on it without doing additional damage then I don’t see any issue with him playing. If he could do any additional damage, I don’t think he should have played. That’s his choice. Calipari has always been vague about his players injuries. I’m not sure why. But Vanderbilt has proven once this year that he doesn’t want to play until he is completely recovered. I don’t know if he could or couldn’t of played. If he could have played and didn’t then I am disappointed in him. Also if he wasn’t 100% I would t have played him because the team was playing well without him and I wouldn’t have wanted to effect that. But once again, I don’t care who could or couldn’t or should or shouldn’t have played. I was bringing up the point that you were stating something as fact that wasn’t a fact. But you can keep moving the goalposts if you want. Enjoy your night and good luck in the remainder of the tournament. NEXT.
