I know track conditions can change but it looks like the track is favoring speed and the 1 and 2 path is where you want to be. I thought originally we would see a honest pace but it could end up being a quicker pace.

Same as most years though…almost a paved highway early, then it evens out.

I wanted to see Great White run, because he's so big he looked like a damn Clydesdale. But he was the one who took a spill right before loading, and was scratched.
He’s such a mediocre horse though.

Last huge horse I can remember that was really good was Rock Hard Ten.

Idiomatic was a really big filly though.

I’ve been a supporter of Coach Rhule but some of the things he’s said and done this spring makes me wonder if he’s really trying to get fired
I think it's a fair question. If you could make $72M for staying at home and traveling with your family on vacation ---- or make $72M for what could be a disastrous season, high stress, and a fan base who doesn't like you very much - which would most people choose?

I actually liked Golden Tempo a bit because of finishing times and the trainer, but I’m an exacta guy, and I wouldn’t have included the #1 regardless.

Yeah seems like it don't matter. Got his extension w/guarantee, private jet use. Life's good

Not sure about trying to get fired. But certainly has the look and actions of someone who knows he's a dead man walking. Either that or he is one of the most tone-deaf, lacking self-awareness people on on the planet.

Can there be another option of traveling with your guy friends instead of your wife?

We need to mandate some laws that every man must go on 2 “bro’d trips” (bro road trips) per year. Life is short. Don’t forget to spend time with the bros.
Amen!

I love how married women are like "I am not your mother, you can cook and clear the house" but also they are like "Wait, you are going golfing and you didn't check with me first?"

You bet right. Another bad year for Triple Crown fans. Looking forward to seeing Golden Tempo in the Belmont.
I’m hoping without the TC in play, they just enjoy the win and don’t get pressured in to doing something that damages the horse. I think that trainer won’t be swayed by delusions of grandeur. Retire him to stud. Take the money now. That’s probably the smart plan but winning another leg of the TC would dramatically increase his syndication value.

Would love to see him run the Belmont. It looked to me like he was still picking up steam at the end of the KD, which bodes well for a longer deep close. It sounds like De Vaux and the owners are going to do what's best for the horse, which is great.

Interestingly, De Vaux was quoted as saying today's horses aren't built or trained for such a short turnaround, and that's why they are skipping the Preakness. Given the recent spate of these Preakness skips, I wonder whether the TC will change, because I doubt the horses/training will change just for the TC.
