Better watch out tonight, Kent State's starting lineup is sporting a .357 overall batting average. Not sure about the pitching they have faced thus far, but these guys have been hitting.

Safe to say that was not at all what we needed out of CM tonight

I don't think MacLeod has pitched but 11 or 12 innings thus far in the season. He has recorded 21 Ks now, but he hasn't lasted long. His threw 57 pitches in less than two innings tonight.

Yep, good thing that we basically have 4-5 more starters in our pen because the weekend rotation is hurting bad at the moment

You never know what you're gonna get early in the season...Witness LSU today, with its worst loss in 14 years. Oral Roberts plated 22 runs on Tiger pitching. One of those games where you put your right fielder on the mound and tell him not to throw anything but strikes.

Who was it that we used to trot in from the outfield to pitch an inning or two a few years back? Your comment has me racking my brain trying to remember.

Edit: I think Pollorena was who I was thinking of, but Mangum also did it a couple times.

I recall Ron Polk doing that in a Super Regional against Clemson, but I cannot remember the right fielder back then. He could throw hard, though. Rock n' fire...

Mitch Moreland, Reid Humphreys, CT Bradford as well.

Brandon Smith is the best “pitcher” that we’ve run out there this year.

Brandon is pitching himself into the starting rotation but Sims has been hard to beat

While that seems the easy solution I don’t think for a second we should change the weekend staff yet. The talent on the weekend staff will only get better and will be more impressive with these guys as mid relief. That’s adding Bednar back to weekend rotation. We need CM, Bednar and Cerantola to get us 4-6 innings. We are best when they are it. Give it a few more weeks and let the bullpen to finish

Im laying claim to this. I posted it two hours before you in another thread.

That’s who should start next weekend, but in the Sims, Smith, Bednar order.
That’s why my post is better
Bednar, Smith, Sims
Not sure how deep Sims can go
For their long relief you pair them with
MacLeod, Cerenrola, Fristoe

Bobby Thigpen would come in as the closer after playing right field all game. He went on to be a good relief pitcher in MLB.

Pete Young would come in after playing 3rd and dealing with a hangover after a 3-day bender. Throw hard, party harder!

K-State up 2-0 in the 3rd today, and we're lucky it's not worse. They left the bases juiced in the second. We really need Cerantola to settle in now and get some outs.

He's got a pitch or two that looks nearly unhittable.

Then he'll launch one at a dude's head.

Bases loaded, none out in the 4th for K State...Stage is set for them to blow it wide open. Geez, the only guy in their lineup batting under .200 got a hit and stole a base. Baseball gods are not smiling on us at the moment.

WTH is up with these Umps. Strike zone shrinks when we pitch, guy gets pulled off the bag and he is out. The changing strike zone seems deliberate.

Thats bs. That was horrible hitting with man on third and 1 out. You gotta want to hit the ball. That ball was 1. A strike and 2. Even if you think it wasnt a good hitter doesnt leave it in the umps hands in that situation.
