I was a bit skeptical of how much hype came with his close quarterback battle with CJ Carr at Notre Dame, and the Alabama game was a tad concerning...but man I can't get over how poised he looked at Kyle Field. Dude is special and is only going to get better with more experience. Retain him for next year and sky is the limit.

Not to mention Stein has already signed for next year a guy who I think is the top ranked out of state qb we've ever signed, maybe 2nd to Couch overall.
Don’t jinx Kenny with the Heisman talk I saw on here earlier.
Like I said on that game thread, we have to remember that he has no game experience to be that poised against a great team on the road is something else. He will only continue to improve with more reps.
He is going to be a good one. He is also helping us recruit a better caliber of HS player. I like what Stein is building.
I watched the interview he had with CBS sports last night and was blown away at his demeanor. The Alabama game kind of took away the shine for a minute but throwing 7 TD’ with only one INT and 700 yards is pretty damn good in a 3 game sample size with two teams being top 10 at the time we played them.
We have a game where he was pressured and looked rough and a game where we used quick throws and then gave him added protection and he looked poised. I like what I have seen in 2-3 games. Now with tape for DCs, we see how things progress. Let’s hope A&M represents his play in the SEC.
Can potentially retain a lot of the skill guys on the offense, Baxter has another year with 5 and 5, DJ Miller, Darby, Patterson, Minchey, Rodriguez, etc.
Total guess, but I expect Rodriguez will leave for the NFL. There's so much buzz around him.
Either way, we win. If he comes back, UK is still loaded at the TE position. If he is a first round pick, it elevates TE recruiting.
Would have to agree, just saying there’s a possibility of him returning if he wanted to, and with NIL in play we could definitely make a push for him to stay
If Rodriguez goes pro, Stein will almost certainly pick up a well regarded TE in the portal. What TE wouldn’t want to play in this offense?
Yeah I mean Ohio State doesn’t seem to have a problem losing 100 pros over a 4 year span lol. It would massively help us. They are obviously on a different level as a program and spending, but it would help. Stein already is recruiting well with no history. If we keep playing like the A&M game I expect recruiting to explode.

1. Minchey is a good but not eye popping athlete at QB....He is not going to break otu of pocket for explosive plays when it breaks down.
2. Minchey is hititng 67% completion percentage, 233 yards per game, 7 TD vs. 1 Int....no rushing stats to speak of.
3. His accuracy to hit guys to get YAC appears to be top level SEC talent. Those deep balls vs Texas AM were dead on guys. HIs YAC on short balls is elite as well. Those are hidden stats to me for a QB.
4. His ability to take care of the ball is really good thus far. We didn't have a near TO in the Texas AM game.
5. The ball he threw on last scoring drive Texas AM....we go unbalance offensive line and sneak Boyer into route and that side had immediate pressure....Minchey anticipated it....backpedaled and threw the pass to where Boyer was going for a huge play that set up game sealing FG. Those are intangibles that he has that many UK QB never had.
I really like him and feel confident in him getting us into a good offensive consistency this year and next to allow Ponatawski and HS kid compete for the job.
For Comparison sake....Cutter Boley lit up Morgan St...but in Texas AM....threw 2 picks and had another fumble. And Cutter was 'meh' vs. Kansas.
So Stein has our QB outplaying Boley thus far which is good sign that Stein can get the QB spot to be productive.

The long pass to DJ Miller was a thing of beauty.
That was a wow throw. The ones to boyer have all been through insanely slick formations where he was all but guaranteed to be open. Kudos for hitting the layup but that's all they were.
First and third game the staff really did a great job of scheming guys open. Imo that's why stein values accuracy because we can't afford to miss all those open targets or cost them rac yards.
