Kenny Johnson retained at UofL

I heard on the radio this morning that Kenny Johnson was retained at UofL after being pursued by supposedly one or more other schools.
The take that the host on the radio had is that this means that not only will Pitino stay, but that their punishment will be minimal.
That was my first thought as well...
After thinking about it, I realized that they probably paid him a bunch of money to stay on, NO MATTER WHO ends up being the coach next year.
I believe that they kept Johnson because he was the lead recruiter for VJ King and several other players that are currently on the roster.
The feel like if Johnson leaves, they not only lose King, but could have some transfers if Pitino leaves.
The next hire will keep Johnson on staff if Pitino leaves...

This is just my opinion on why and how that went down.

I feel strongly that Pitino is going nowhere. He is going to use this opportunity to "rebuild" it all and be the hero. He has tremendous backing from the BOT and his AD.

It kinda depends on how the NCAA rules on this...

Of course, UofL trying to retain Pitino could make the penalties more severe.

I guess we'll see within a few months.

Didn't King sign an LOI? If so, he can't get out of it unless UL lets him out or they get put on probation, if I remember correctly.

I will be surprised if King ever suits up for Lil brothel. If he knew what was good for him he'd be asking for a release right now. I'm not sure why anyone with other options would even consider that viper pit.

With what transpired at UL I would be shocked if the NCAA allowed them to keep the coaching staff and administration intact and not absolutely hammer them once the investigation is finished. UL is essentially saying "yes something major happened on our watch but we don't want to change anything". That won't fly with the NCAA.

If RP was going anywhere he would have been gone by now. UL has to have a very good idea of what all the evidence is, what the punishment will be, etc...

I thought he had to be gone when all of this broke a few months ago. Now, I would be SHOCKED if he isn't back at UL next year.

Also - UL may be really good next year. If they get everyone back plus King, could be an interesting team. Easily top 10.

i read somewhere that July 1st is the critical date on "if" Pitino is let go
i think it had something to do with his contract

Shamefully they are also trying to get these kids in school and enrolled so they cannot transfer when the Sheesh hits the fan in July. This is their strategy to make sure that these kids are locked in when the NCAA hits them, RP steps down or suspended. They are doing whatever they can to make sure those kids are on campus.
IMO

Huh? Last I heard they may have a good idea who Coach Mike is and the investigation is pursuing that, doesn't sound like a case that is all but wrapped up. We don't know their punishment, their coach, nor what players will return.

like I said several times already, if pitino leaves it won't be until late April or some time in May. Then UL will hear from the NCAA what they recommend Pitino and UL do as in if they can keep him or if that would cost too severe of repercussions from the NCAA.

They are still preparing for Pitino to leave but hoping for the best....

the only way any of the tards current frshman coming in like vj king and or the current members of the team can leave that school with no penalty of sitting out, is if the ncaa grants them freedom to transfer like they did at iu when they got hammered. and if they do that then bellarmine and chubby scotty will beat them. along with everybody else in the country
