"KS" first of all, take everything coming out of the Star Ledger with a grain of salt the size of Mount Rushmore.
Second, and more importantly Turay IS Rutgers answer to rushing the QB! There is no one else that can potentially cause as much havoc then him. At least not this year. Wouldn't you protect that sort of asset, for as long as you could? Our first game features one of the best throwing QB's in the country, I think we will need Turay for that game, but what the heck do I know!
I'm more worried about stopping the run, and have we improved in that area. The addition of skill players on the Offense will at least, and hopefully allow the D to rest for longer periods of time on the sidelines. That should help. Go RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

What's to take with a grain of salt? He hasn't been in contact practice since late last week, and there is Ash's vague quote.

Yeah, not getting the warm and fuzzies on this one. Still cringe when I think about Darius Hamilton in 2015 and the mystery of when he would actually play...

This goes in the same paragraph as Grant not turning on injuried ankle ,and having no contact still to date, and Hamilton being held out of practice as a "plan" till game time.LOL.
Welp,at least Grant had a green jersey on vrs a black Jersey on Turay.

Unless something unforeseen changes that," Ash said. "It's like anybody else right now. We're planning on him playing

Ash says he'll play in Game 1.

So will he be on the field Sept. 1 when Rutgers opens against No. 8 Washington to cause fits for Heisman hopeful quarterback Jake Browning?

"Unless something unforeseen changes that," Ash said. "It's like anybody else right now. We're planning on him playing."

That's not exactly an emphatic "he'll play."

Yes..very vague. Hopefully it's just a little issue and resolved soon. We need this guy as much as we can get him in the game.

Ash is probably just being conservative with them and doesn't see the need to push them prior to game one. They will probably be fine. But having said that my own feeling is that once a player is injured, the cloud of that injury (if it's somewhat severe) never completely goes away. This is why we need to develop depth at every position and not view 1 player as being "the" savior for a successful season.

Football is played on Saturday. Everything else that you read or hear is just entertainment. I will be watching him against Washington and if he ls invisible then we have a problem.

You worry too much my friend. The kid will be playing Defensive End on Sept. 1st.! Bet the farm.
BTW that, "grain of salt" comment was directed at that rag, the SL.

Ash said they expect him to play. could just be a little soreness and cutting back on his reps. they know they need to keep this guy healthy and fresh. i wouldnt worry about it unless they dont say anything by mid week next week.

My bet, it'll come down to a game day decision.

Players with issues walk around practice with a green jersey on, players with issues who aren't there at all are seeing a doctor, or told to stay off the field because you can't participate.
How many times did we hear "he will be fine" about Martin and he barely played

Why play him now? Give him some rest, he is still recovering from surgery, and you know what he can do. Plus, the offense need to work on things and he was destroying their plays.

Well that answers my question why we did not see Turay on the Field at the Saturday night scrimmage.
After Grant , he is the most important returning player. I think we see him on Sept. 1st on 3rd Down Passing situations. Hopefully a lot of those situations or we don't see him.

I think a green jersey would be Ash being conservative. A black jersey is worrisome.

Actually, he is big enough, violent enough to use him on all three downs. Not situational anymore.

It sounded like Ash said he has "issues to workout" . perhaps not injury related at all and he just needs to work things out.

I think Turay is more important than Grant. I dont see any other pass rushers on this roster. As good as Grant is we've brought in some frosh that can conceivably make some plays in the return game and at wideout if Grant can't go.

The kid was shaping up to be a major force on defense. I hope he gets healthy enough to play.

you do understand that Grant is close to setting/breaking some NCAA and B10 records this season?

This has nothing to do with not being present at practice.

Could be something to do outside of a football injury. When CA said he needs to work on some issues, it could mean family related or school work related. Just my guess.

Maybe it was unintended and perfectly innocent but I have to admit I found it a bit disconcerting that Ash chose to use the word "issues".

Plus, we did hear all last summer how the staff was just "playing it safe" with Hamilton, but it turned out he just was not the same player last year as compared to his 1st 2 years. And, because of that, I can't say I have a real warm and fuzzy feeling about Grant's health status right now either.

I don't blame him one bit but Ash does seem to be very tight lipped when it comes to injuries.

It could mean anything. Legal issues, constipation, hemorrhoids, migraine, venereal disease, etc. why speculate?

I think that it's definitely injury related because Ash followed up his comment about Turay by saying that "we don't talk about injuries" and he had on a black jersey, so apparently it is injury related and not a different "issue." Of course, I'm willing to listen to conspiracy theories.

I thought green jerseys meant they are injured? Or are green for qbs only so the don't get hit? Black is no-contact for others?

Because we're fanatics and it's what fanatics do. Most of us consume every sliver of information available, be it coach or mods.

Speaking for myself, I take every tidbit I get and ridiculously analyze it, being a Rutgers fan, I've been programmed to expect the worst case scenario.

If you're a why worry I can't do anything about it kind of fan, that's cool as well, but I think you're in the great minority around this place:D
