Kelly will be able to land on her feet pretty quickly, she is very intelligent and a lot of employers would love to have her . She will more then likely upgrade from where she was at imo

I'm still in mourning over the Tulsa Trib. If the TW does go belly up, it'll save me about $600. per year. I'll miss Jimmie Tramel who is excellent, but not the DAILY feature articles on the other 2 schools' football programs, while "little brother" TU gets scraps.

The TW had a nice article for a change on Kamdyn Benjamin by Kelly Hines the day before she got the sack. Out of the blue, she joins heavyweights like Tucker Carlson & Don Lemon looking for a job. Man, print & broadcast news is a cutthroat business.

There was two small city newspapers that were afternoon editions moderately recently. The NY Times used to have several editions through out the day but I doubt that is still going on. It's not always easy to find a copy of the NY Times on a news stand in NY. Used to, you tripped over it everywhere. Morning and afternoon papers in one city don't exist any more.

I was a Tribune subscriber myself and really enjoyed it until it went under.

Don't equate Kelly with Lemon or Carlson. They did what they did for shock value and online clicks to generate ad revenue, not in the name journalism. Carlson was more of an opinion editor than anything else and Lemon was going that direction.

Kelly's intentions were different and her articles were usually well-researched, well-constructed and fair. We may not always have agreed with her and sometimes her stories were critical of TU but I can't say the information she passed along was garbage. Unlike Haisten she presented the information to us. Haisten just tried to undercut TU whenever possible it seemed...if he had stopped after the first "TU doesn't have the resources of the Big XII so why do they keep trying to compete in D1?" article instead of regurgitating it every year for 15+ years, maybe I would have a higher opinion of him.

Right now I have an online only subscription to the TW that I paid a whopping $1 for 6 months for because I wanted to see the TU articles and some local news...but I am questioning whether or not I am getting my $1 worth and will probably drop it. What does that say about what the ownership group has allowed it to become? Actually wishing the Lorton's still owned it.

Don't equate Kelly with Lemon or Carlson.

They all 3 work in same (news/opinion) industry. They all got the sack the same day. And all 3 just after a program/article and none had a clue it was coming. Carlson and Lemon made $millions with national audiences while Kelly had a somewhat limited audience & I imagine she made a bit less than the guys. Sheesh, Bla, give me a break.

I wish Kelly well. Hopefully she has matured from several years ago, when she took to social media to bash ITS and spread lies about the site and me personally, for no reason at all. She later admitted it was wrong, but the damage was done at that point. 15 to 20 years ago, I had a fantastic relationship with TW writers, such as Jimmie, Eric, Mike and John. There's basically been no relationship over the past 10 years, which is a shame.
