KB visits Auburn this weekend. Malzahn is on the hot seat, desperate, and must win next year at all costs.
That combo doesn’t bode well for us with KB.

Why is everyone so sure that Auburn (see boosters) would put out their usual effort to get Bryant? The big names want Gus gone. Even if they think Bryant has all the talent in the world and is THE ANSWER for next year and would make their team better...why go all out for a one-year bandaid that might make it that much harder to fire the coach that you see as a deterrent to future long term success?
I'd much rather play Auburn with Bryant at QB, than Stidham. Stidham is an NFL-level passer, which always wins out in the end. And their OL will be a year older.
They were a national championship contender last year. You're ignoring fit. Gus cannot win without a duel threat QB and/or a great RB. No great RB is walking through that door next year, so they desperately need a duel threat guy. Plus their offensive line is atrocious so they need someone with mobility as a weapon, not a pure pocket passer.
I still don't see why it matters. He wasn't a world beater at Clemson. I mean I guess if you're looking for a guy to help us get from a 5-6 win team to a 7-8 win team, fine. I figure Thompson is good enough to do that.
We aren't challenging for the West again until 2021.
Kelly Bryant can go somewhere and have success, but I don't think he has the legs to do what Mahazan needs his QB to do for success. Could make for good watching next fall though.
Moorhead needs an insurance policy. That's all this is. Similar to Malik Zaire at Flarrda or whatever. You figure KT is good enough to do that, but obviously, Moorhead doesn't. I'm a little bothered by that, as it seems like KT has all the tools and if he can't get this offense (after Nick not getting the offense), I'm worried that's a coaching issue and not a KT issue. But I am not concerned that Moorhead somehow doesn't know what he has.

If I had to guess right now, I would say KT would beat him out.
Cool. That’s a valid opinion. How about we find out if he can beat him out? There’s literally no downside to bringing him in. We have the room on the roster and no guaranteed starter. Getting someone who would be serviceable at absolute minimum would be a great thing. Some folks on here have been severely spoiled by Dak or Mullen or both. Having just average QB play is never a given at MSU.
Look, If KT goes down, we would have a good replacement in KB. I see nothing but good insurance in getting KB or some other good experienced QB for a backup. I would hate to put an incoming frosh in the middle of an SEC game with such little experience. What am I missing here?
If this young man has parents/guidance wise enough to see through desperate ******** and genuinely have his long term interests at heart, we will still be in consideration.
I just don't want us to promise the job to him. I'm sure some schools will
I don't see any grad transfer QB with only one year left going anywhere that doesn't promise him the starting job at least out of the gate, no matter what his competitive spirit is.
I played flag football at State against Eddie Hornback and a few other former players after their eligibility was up. Hornback could sling the ball. They crushed us in the playoffs.
He was 6th in the ACC last year in passing efficiency rating. That's while surrounded by Clemson talent vs. (non-Clemson) ACC talent. And his experience was beat out this year by a true freshman who with all that talent around him is currently leading the ACC in passing efficiency rating.
Think about our talent around the quarterback position relative to our SEC West competition. And think about Clemson's talent around the quarterback position relative to their ACC competition. I don't see him coming here and doing better than he did at Clemson. If I had to guess right now, I would say KT would beat him out.
