Very true, but Keldon is a true team player and is getting so much better
He's definitely a promising player, and he can do the dirty work, but this team desperately needs guys to set the table for others.
Choosing Keldon over proven playmakers is fine if we're coasting to gold by 50 points. Not if we're being embarrassed multiple times in the same week.
I love it for Keldon that he is going to make the team. He is the type of versatile player that can fill in gaps and is efficient on both offense and defense.
But..... this team desperately needs a true point guard and a post player taller than 6'10.

I love Keldon, and always root for the Kentucky boys, but if this is the level of player Team USA is putting on the squad...that's probably not a good thing.

I'm confused. Are we assuming here that Keldon will play a significant role? We're still going to have Kevin Durant, Lillard, Booker, Middleton, Bam on the team and logging most of the minutes right?
I get that we lost 2 exhibition games, but that was with minimal practice and balancing minutes to get everyone time and experience playing together.
Boy, if the USA loses this is going to a huge lingering effect on Team USA. Randle and multiple deserving players dissed. This is insane.

I get that the All Star NBA players wanted their off-season back. I can even, begrudgingly, understand why they don't want to represent the USA. But Keldon Johnson? This I don't get. Was Archie Goodwin not available?

McGee was a benchwarmer only playing scrub minutes this season yet now he’s on Team USA? Jeez, it’s really hard to believe they can’t find a better big man than that.
But, then again, it does seem like all the best centers nowadays are foreigners.

Since they don’t seem to be able to win, I’d trade the lot for 12 high schoolers that are proud of their country.

Part of me wonders if some guys that turned the offer down just don’t want to deal with the bubble situation again after going through it last NBA season. Also, a lot of these guys didn’t finish until late September/early October and were back at it less than 2 months later and just wrapped up the season. Then they go to the Olympics until August 8th and then back to Training Camp late September.
I don’t think the no pride just happened overnight. I just think some guys opted out because they wanted a break.

Trae Young is pissed off about being snubbed. And I agree with him. Guys like JaVale McGee, Keldon Johnson and Kevin Love got invitations, but a flat out superstar point guard like Young did not? Inexcusable.

I like there’s another Cat on the roster but no disrespect to Keldon but they could have at least got someone like a Bledsoe. Doubt he will even play much.
They need to play defense. The pathetic display I watched was bad. Just standing around not knowing what to do.
