Defensive player went out of his way to get under Brooks after he'd left the floor, then flopped like a little puss when he was grazed. These officials are like WWF from the 70's.

Iron Sheik had a lead pipe in his shorts but they never saw it.

Maybe poetic justice that the Vandy player missed those 2 free throws that would have put them up with 30 tics.

I absolutely hate the way the charge/block calls are made nowadays. Of course, I should just call it the charge foul because that’s what they call it 95% of the time. It takes away so many exciting plays at or near the rim. I never thought I’d say this, but it was better when it was purely a judgement call and was 50-50. One of the many changes that has made the game worse instead of better.

No other level of basketball has as many charges or ticky tack fouls called. It’s uniquely a college basketball problem and it’s just bad refereeing.

Brooks didn't even make contact dude leaned over to his side. Sorry crackhead ref just wanted to do his offensive charge call and get attention.
Yep. Just an unbelievably terrible call. They need to get rid of that call. At the very least, get rid of the air punch gesture that is attached to it. Refs just can’t wait to do their air punch!

The wife and I were disgusted by the call. They sure tried to give it to Vandy the last 4 or so minutes. Luckily, we held on. I’m really tired of watching this **** show of SEC and college officiating. It’s absolutely horrendous!

how tall is Keion? was it really that impressive? any 3 point shot takes more skill. I am only 6'0 and well over 30 years old and still dunking! Dunking is overrated.
So was I, and I’m white. Not that it matters, but you know. Some people think it does. I used to be able to put my elbow on the rim and am 6’0” on my best day.

Anyway, Keion’s dunk was very impressive. The dude gets up really well. I was just talking to my wife about that just the other day. His elevation is what’s so impressive. He’s a quick jumper when attacking the basket as well.

I have watched it. really what was so impressive about it?
I am glad he took it strong to the basket and dunked, but that is what he is supposed to do.
I'm not trying to be an ******* here. but if he stopped and hit a 3 pointer, I would have been more impressed!

We need keion back next year. He could have a pj Washington type of season if he keeps getting stronger and becomes a consistent outside threat

Poster Dunk. That clown from Candy slid over under him after Brooks was already in the air.
Yep, I noticed that as well. Announcers didn't see it and neither did the refs. You can't hop out of the restricted circle after the guy leaves his feet. But I expect no less from these SEC officials. I actually thought this crew was decent most of the night though. They blew that call, though.

I have been an official, not college, for 45 years and that is the main reason I have given up watching college basketball. The officiating at this level has been bad for many years now. The NCAA interprets rules the way they want and the refs are scared of coaches so they don’t call things correctly. So many of them today mean well and think they know the game but they are just flat out incompetent. Pat Adams being one of them. You should not be able to ref because you love a game, but on the other hand finding officials is hard too. Lots of travel, being away from family and job. Not everyone willing to do it do the NCAA will take just about anyone and go from there. And in case anyone is going to ask, I was a very good official and called the games as they were supposed to be called. I am a purist and did not allow a bunch of the crap that goes on in today’s game. I am 67 now and can’t run anymore. But I loved the run I had for all those years and I can’t believe how bad the game and officiating has become.

Was the offensive player out of control? No. Not even close. I always grew up hearing that was the driving force behind the rule. Defender entitled to legal guarding position, blah blah blah.

Well, in this instance, it was painfully obvious that Brooks had started to make his move to the rim, gathered himself to launch, and THEN the Vanderbilt player jumped to his spot. You don't call that a charge.

That's a foul on the defense every single time in the NBA.

I watched this like 10 times. It is REALLY close regarding whether brooks left his feet before that kid had position. I think you have to give the benefit of the doubt to the offensively player. trying to sneak over there like the defender did is not a real basketball play IMO>

I don’t think he had left his feet but he had planted the one foot to take his step and at that point he couldn’t change anything. The guy got in front of him as Brooks took his step to rise. It was a block. But a very close one.
