He's Poythress 2.0. 6'8 tweener forward whos not quite a 4 but isnt polished enough to be a 3 but does a lot of things well but no one thing great. And that's a great player to have as they're kind of a jack of all trades who you can use in a multitude of ways. One night, poythress is a freshman dunking on Duke players lookin like a top 10 pick and the next he's playing 32 minutes scoring 5 points, grabbing 3 rebounds and committing 4 turnovers.
He is much better then Poy though that is not a knock on Poy as he has played in the NBA and deserves credit and was a good player. Brooks is a tweener in the NBA but in college is a PF all day due to his rebounding prowess ( which is very Vanderbilt like ) and intensity . Also Poy looks like Tarzan but played like Jane alot while Brooks looks like a thin rail but plays much stronger . Brooks will be the 2nd best player in this class and play 1 year and be a top 20 pick IMO . Kid is so fun to watch . Once or twice a game he will grab a rebound only 1% of players in the world could grab or he will make a dunk that raises you out of your seat. He is this year's Herro or SGA aka a player ranked in the 20's who will be a top 10 freshman in reality.

. I think his best role is as a stretch 4, but many experts seem to think he's a 3.

How is he a "stretch 4" when he's best near the basket and only shoots about 28 percent from three point distance? I swear, "stretch 4" has become yet another one of those terms that people toss out just because they think it makes them sound knowledgeable without really knowing what it means.

Brooks probably will play the 4 at UK. But just a normal 4. No need to add "stretch" to the label.

I honestly wonder if Brooks isn't ranked lower than he should be is because no one is certain what he is. I think his best role is as a stretch 4, but many experts seem to think he's a 3. I just don't know if he has the handles or lateral quickness to play and defend on the perimeter, but if he can bulk up, he could become a really nice 4 imo.
Brooks is ranked where he is because he is skinny. There isn't much doubt about his skills or his heart. It's a question of physical strength, and he needs more of that.
