Keion Brooks is a liability

He has very low basketball IQ and/or confidence. You can just tell.
Hopkins is similar. Absolute liability every time he is on the floor but his is due to inexperience - like a deer in the headlights.

I remember thinking "he's gonna develop into a hell of a player" during that game at Florida at the end of his freshman year. Doesn't seem like he's improved much at all since then.

He plays like he thinks he’s our go to guy, he should be the 5th option at best.

I thought Brooks played well early. He came out when we were up comfortably. After he came back in, he was never the same. Seems to crumble in big moments.

I didn't think he played that bad today. Smith wasn't the reason for the loss. I thought he played decent. He is what he is.

He was good the first half. Guarded Smith well. Made a couple mistakes in the second half and this boards loses their collective **** for the next 3 days about him. We need him to be at our best.

I don't want to pick on the kid but never give him the ball with 30 seconds to go down 4 or 6 whatever it was. Mintz and Grady messed up.

this isn't about Brooks, this is just a generalized statement

If a kid plays poorly for one game, ok, 2 games, should be noted

If a kid damages the team and still gets playing time, and isn't leashed on the court, then is it the kids fault?

I'm not going to blame a kid for doing what he came here to do. I will blame a coach that gives him the leash to hurt the team

He will get a pass, have a wide open 3 in the corner (which he correctly should not take), pump fake, “drive”/back his man down (if he doesn’t fumble it and turn it over) to just inside the free throw line where there is a crowd of people, get double teamed, try to kick it out but bobble it into the air, get it back and barely kick it out as we all take a deep breath. Such beautiful offense and such a weapon.

He's another Poythress. Shows potential here and there, but for whatever reason never puts it together.
Porthress developed into an excellent role player. Would take him 10 times out of 10 over Keion.

You know how in badminton if you’re slightly better than your opponent you will dominate the match? And conversely if your opponent is only slightly better than you then you have no shot whatsoever?

Brooks is the human badminton match.

Add to this the play where he tried to back the Auburn kid down on the block only to EAT IT when he tried to shoot it over him. I was EMBARRASED for him after I had gotten PISSED OFF that he even tried that.

He is pitiful.

Poythress is way better - Allen would be better than Brooks if given his minutes
This. I would take Allen over Brooks all day long. Allen needs minutes and to be allowed to play through his mistakes...just like Cal has allowed for Brooks. Brooks should have his name painted on the chair at the end of the bench.

IDK if you’ve paid attention to Allen this year but he’s never in position, can’t shoot a lick and generally inhabits a space where he’s either totally in over his head or isn’t playing hard. He’s been god awful. Brooks isn’t a Kentucky caliber starting power forward, imho, but playing Allen isn’t an option either.

His only time in the game today he failed to block out the shooter and let the guy get a long offensive rebound, absolutely should have been his ball. I’ve been a proponent of Allen getting more PT but those are the type of things he can’t do if he wants to see any clock at all.

What about Allen makes you a proponent of him getting more time? I mean Brooks isn’t a great player by any means but he’s definitely better then Allen.

Can’t shoot, can’t guard, can’t handle the ball. And he’s supposed to be a veteran.
He's worse now than he was as a freshman. I'm not interested in watching this for another season (next year), especially since he'll undoubtedly be a starter. It's awful.

Hopkins and Collins were expected to at least be able to play SOME this season. So much for that.

Well, I said I have been. But that was mostly based on his play last year which I thought was pretty good. But he’s been bad this year, no two ways about it.

Disappointed in Brooks, was hoping for a lot more from him in a junior season. He is what he is and should be back for a senior year though I don't think he'll be any better.
