Why must wvu constantly give itself a black eye? You have Bruce Irvin publicly talking **** about specific wvu football players all season on Twitter. Now, over the last week, it has grown into a full-fledged shitshow between Skyler Howard and Irvin.

You have one guy with multiple arrests talking **** about current players. You have a current player talking **** to a former player now in the NFL. Why must wvu constantly expose its *** for the country to see?

How is WVU giving itself a black eye when a former player in the NFL and another who has finished up his eligibility get on Twitter? It's not like all the former players call Shaun Lyons the AD to get his approval on what they can post on Twitter. This is between two guys airing their laundry for all to see on Twitter and WVU has no control over it.

Country, is this you? Usually, he asks questions of this level of stupidity. Let me help you:

Alums are forever linked to their respective universities, especially alums who were in the spotlight, and even more those who recently left the university.

wvu takes pride in their former athletes who participate in the Olympics and who play in the Super Bowl due to the belief that wvu as an institution somehow played a part in influencing those athletes to the pinnacle of their athletic endeavors. Likewise, when alums (especially recent ones) act like idiots, wvu is linked to them in that the institution somehow influenced them in that way during some of their most important growth years as adults. It is even more glaring of a bond when the school has no problem accepting money from one of those alums during the same time that alum is publicly mocking the play of a current athlete.

Just because your children have left the house doesn't alleviate their many arrests from reflecting poorly on your family. It is still an embarrassment.

My question is . . . why do these things happen so frequently over such a long period to wvu? It isn't just athletics specific. It deals with school leaders, fans, alums, athletes, etc. 30Kitty used to argue that the high number of these incidents isn't exclusive to just wvu, but rather, it is just reported more because the national media has a stereotype they try to fulfill for those in West Virginia.

Oh I don't know, but this is rather tame compared to Skip Henderson who stole the car he was suppose to only wash a Dutch Miller and used it to traffic drugs into the Huntington area from his buddies in Atlanta.

Tweet on Mountaineers ...... Don't deal drugs.

You have to ignore, Westsider. He coached little girls' basketball and thought that it made him an expert on sports in general. "Shaun" Lyons? My God, West Virginia State should recall this clown's diploma.

He should have just shot his spouse up with a paralyzing drug, then set the house on fire to make the poor sap burn alive. He could have asked the wvu cheerleader for tips on how to do it.

See, my point wasn't that ****** things don't happen to all schools. The point is that wvu has so many blackeyes they create compared to other schools.

Any reason why other than a national media conspiracy?

Though I am flattered, you shouldn't confuse me with King Rifle.

King Rifle is at a position in life where he doesn't have to kiss anyone's ***. He can never coach again and be fine. If he disagrees with the ethical choices a coach makes, he doesn't have to pretend to ignore it in order to get or keep a job like most other coaches.

A coach with ethics will think twice about hiring guy who publicly trashes his peers on a public message board.

Why are so many of you obsessed with King Rifle? This thread had nothing to do with him, yet many of you find a way to turn the subject to him.

If you guys talk about him this much on a message board, I can only imagine how much you must think about him.

Let's keep each others hands out of their pants on this topic.

Who mentioned the national media?

Do we need to pull up the arrest records of current and former athletes from U of Florida, FSU, Miami, VPI, USC, Texas, Oklahoma, LSU, Ohio State, Penn State, Marshall (the list can go on) and compare it to a Twitter war (which is what this whole thread started with) between two WVU football players?

The Sandusky kid gets arrested a few days ago for doing the same thing his old man was allowed to do and covered up at Penn State and you are worried about Irvin and Howard's spat of tweets giving WVU a black eye. [eyeroll]

We should direct our outrage against those who persist in outright war against our coaching staff because THEY think THEY know more about coaching and managing a team than those who have done it for years if not decades. Such venom is expressed and the majority reading it offer no retort. That, to me, is an outrage far beyond having two of our hundreds of former players go after each other on a public forum. This is a public forum also and provides an image to perspective players and families as to the thoughts related to our 'leaders'. Not a good image in so many cases.

A guy who took a job coaching QB's at Abilene Christian when their coach is already on the hot seat saying he can never coach again and be fine.....makes perfect sense.

1) Your attempt at being a good writer failed. Hopefully, you are better at handling a colonoscope.
2) "Outright war?" Easy there, Kellen Winslow. I think a smack board between rivals (oh, no, there is that word again) allows for some ****-talking about staffs of each team.

In terms of finances, King Rifle can never coach again (or work) and live a better life than your current one. In terms of his desire to coach, I am sure it would still be there.

The coach was never on the hot seat. In fact, last year, he was offered a three year extension. He didn't sign it. He was also told before last recruiting season (before signing day 2016) that he was not to worry about wins/losses as much as he was to worry about staying under budget and making sure the team didn't get into trouble (arrests, grades, etc.). The reasoning for this was because the program was not fully funded in scholarships at FCS until this coming year, the facilities were sub-par, and they were building to have a top team next year when their new on-campus stadium opens.

So, with that assurance, the head coach aimed at recruiting a ton of high schoolers to fill the spots they needed knowing that they didn't need to win this year (this past season). Then, the carpet was pulled from under him the day of the last game. The AD explained that it wasn't a case of wins/losses, so the head coach was never on the hot seat.

Two other teams in the same conference moved up to FCS at the same time as Abilene Christian. Abilene Christian has 3-1 record against those teams and are ahead of both on the field. Yet, those teams haven't let their head coach go. Just two years ago, with less than half of the amount of scholarship that FBS teams have, this head coach led Abilene Christian to a win over an FBS and a last second 4th-and-20 miracle loss to another FBS. So, clearly, he had no problem winning even with far less scholarships and funding than opponents.

It was a case of a rookie AD wanting to get his hires in there. He just canned the volleyball coach (who had a .500 record in the conference during his career, which is impressive considering his program just moved from D2 to D1, so he was competing already), canned the track coach the year before (who was very succesful), and has tried canning the baseball coach (though the coach's family has donated millions in building the nice baseball facilities, so it had put a barrier up for the AD to make a move). Regarding football, much of it had to do with a player not getting any playing time or special treatment (other than an undeserved scholarship). The player's parents donated $35 million to the new stadium (including naming rights), donated tens of millions more for a recent new science building, and have donated tens of millions more for naming rights to other buildings on campus.

It's the politics of college sports. The head coach who was terminated was never on the hot seat, was given assurance that wins/losses didn't matter this year since the AD wanted to build a roster for success next year, and was one of the most quality guys in college football as a person.

Why do you try and challenge King Rifle so much? He has prove time and again that his life is one far more people would want than your life.

Income, intelligence, career accomplishments, physical appearance, women, materialistic items, social life, daily schedule, properties, where the both of you live, etc. all favor him. Stop trying to bait him to acknowledge your presence. You should probably try and focus more on "designing where cones are put on highways."
