That’s crazy. Kansas football has been a joke but there was definite improvement in play and recruiting. The “win now or else” culture is keeping a lot of programs down and won’t work sans a few schools that will always recruit at an elite level.

They'll have a hard time finding a decent coach. Pelini might have been considered for a job like this if he hadn't left Nebraska the way he did and/or if he was having a good season at YSU.

New AD...so the coach was going to be gone at some point this year.

Not sticking up for Beaty but they want an experienced guy and it is very hard to imagine a current head coach jumping to Kansas. Maybe a former head coach...one more adventure for smiling Mike?

Totally agree...I think they are going to hit up some dude that has coached for a very long time.

Smiling Mike would be a perfect HC for Kansas. He knows how to lose to everybody and still keeps smiling!

David Beaty was maybe the most incompetent head coach in the history of NCAA football. He and Zenger were a complete disaster. Beaty was fired when Girod was hired. It’s only now official. Hopefully Bowen is never part of their football program again either.

Shawn Watson. Book it
Tim Beck could be a good hire for them. His Mangino connection might be a problem but IMO Beck could win some games there. I suspect they'll hire some hot young non-power 5 coach. No established D-1 guy in his right mind would touch that place with a 10 foot pole..... I don't even think they could hire a top assistant at a big time program.

The Troy coach would be a good choice. If he would take it.

At least not until the renovations to the stadium are done.

Go get Tracy Claeys...he is a good coach...Kill is from Kansas too and would probably be happy to be on staff/consult.
The number one thing they need is somebody who can recruit and sell KU. Not sure Claeys could do that. They need Jimmies and Joes more than anything. Beck had success there and he could sell that to all of the connections he has in Texas. He is very well liked and respected by Texas high school coaches. I would take a chance on somebody like that before I brought in a guy who is going to get his brains beat in for 3 years then get fired.

Best man for the job:

Recruiting connections from prior job: CHECK
All American QB: CHECK
National Champion: CHECK
Unbeaten HC record: CHECK

Clearly the answer is Middle Florida Tech College Golden Knights HC JOSH HEUPEL!!!

That would be the freaking hilarious.

Heupel wouldn't touch KU. He's smarter than that.

Theyve gone with a has been (Charlie Weis) and Up and Comer (Turner Gill). I'm sure they want a proven head coach. Maybe they could lure Troy or Appalachian State's coach

Don't be so sure, Kansas is indeed a better job than UCF***s.

Les Miles would be Charlie Weis Part 2. He won't win without the 4 and 5 star recruits and a great defensive coordinator. He was average at Okie State.

Les Miles would be a great hire for KU and I bet it happens. He didnt get 5 star recruits at Okie State and he was very successful. "Average" my ***.

KU will open up the wallet with this hire.

He was 28-21 (.571) while at Okie State. That’s pretty average.

He took over a depleted roster coming off a 3-8 year and went 4-7 in year one. Throw that out and he went 24-14. Good enough for LSU to come knocking.

As a suffering KU fan, if we could get Miles...you do it IMO!!!
