Go get a tampon. Tubby a little, but mostly BCG is why they caught us. He's averaged 28 wins per season even after last season being factored. You take that garbage/covid class out and he's averaging nearly 30 per year. He has his faults and needs to get his head out of his *** but the fans who are treating the world like the sky is falling because now we're 2nd like anybody outside of Kanasas or Kentucky cares. Michigan is all the time winningest football team. You think Alabama gives a ****? Kansas will have their bad seasons in the future and we will catch up and trade with them. Have a drink and go to bed OP.
Ahhhh there it is....It;s Tubby and BCG's fault.....not their cult leaders fault

Are you brain dead? This thread is about us losing the wins lead. We initially took the lead decades ago. We didn’t lose the lead because of Kansas starting 10 years, or whatever, before us. We lost the lead because of what’s going on now. Because we went 9-16 last year. Because we haven’t won an NCAA tourney game in three years. The problem isn’t 1893. The problem is now. You’re just another excuse maker. I’m not.
We've had plenty of other seasons with ****** records. It's like blaming the guy who missed the game winner and ignoring all of the other missed shots that occurred during the course of the game. It's an all-time record, it's not entirely on Cal. If Rupp and Hall didn't have a few .500 seasons and Sutton didn't collapse his last year and BCG wasnt a catastrophe then we'd still be ahead.

Don’t worry. We will regain lead. Lost lead to UNC in late 1980s only to regain lead. Kansas will slump at some point and we will get it back. NCAA might strip them of wins which would aid our mission to regain lead

Not the same at all. Relegating an entire game to one missed shot is a terrible analogy.

It is very easy to measure how many wins you lead by when a coaching tenure started and what the difference is at the end of each season. A coach is only responsible for his tenure and maybe the first year to 2 of the next guys tenure if the cupboard is bare.

it’s a bad analogy Bc there is only 1 coach (aka 1 factor), measured singularly at a time. Your analogy is measuring 5-10 factors measured simultaneously and trying to put blame on one.

Can’t blame it on BCG and a rebuild Bc Cal was phenomenal his first 5 years. Unfortunately Kansas has been incredibly consistent passing UNC and us in that time.

We play the same amount of regular season games so the “they played more games than us” isn’t an excuse Bc that is a product of not performing in the tournament in 2013, 2016, 2021,2022. He’ll, even an NIT run in 13 would have helped this stat...or just making the NIt or CBI last year.

a better analogy would be a relay race where only one runner is providing effort at a time. You either had the lead or didn’t when you got the baton. And you either gained ground or loss ground.

That's just plain incorrect. If prior coaches didn't also have bad years we'd still be in the lead, it's not all on Cal. It's an all time record built up from stats from all coaches, not fair to blame it all on Cal. Yeah the 9-16 season was the missed buzzer beater for sure, but there were other seasons nearly as poor that if were better would have covered for the "missed buzzer beater."

Again, we still win more of the games we do play and if you normize for games played we still come out ahead.

To put it a different way, take Cal's tenure and swap it with Rupp's up until 64-67 where Rupp went 15-10, 27-2, 13-13. If the two poor seasons were the seasons that caused us to fall behind would you also blame Rupp?

We have now been relegated to second place in all time wins. We can thank The Clown and may he his worthless tail get out of town now. In 2015 fiasco, I knew, now we have proof! Sad as hell !!
Um what? 😂 A bit dramatic lol

Whoever the coach is at the time, is responsible. And it’s not like he just got here. Next season Cal will become the longest tenured UK coach of my lifetime. And next year isn’t looking too promising either.

Geez, dude, reading comprehension clearly isn’t your specialty.
I understood what you typed in response. You said it's entirely the current coaches job to maintain the lead. I juxtaposed the tenure or Rupp and Cal to demonstrate a point, that an all-time record consists of, well, all of the seasons. Based on your statement if Rupp lost the lead due to those two seasons it would be on him, even though Cal had a 9-16 season in there that Rupp would have had to have made up for to maintain the lead.

Cal has an .783 winning percentage. It's an entirely legacy achievement and if you look at all the coaches we've had Cal has the 3rd best (of any coach with a tenure more than 1 year) and just behind Pitino's and Rupp's.

If you're looking to blame someone check out Tubby's .760 or BCG's .597 or Hall's .748.

Edit: corrected an outdated Wikipedia number.

Cal was great the first six years. But that isn’t us anymore. There are no more stud freshmen on the horizon. Cal’s tenure now looks like two totally different eras, 2010-2015, and 2016 to now. If this current 7 years had been his first 7 at UK, he would’ve been fired by now. Anyone who knows my 25-year history on this site, knows I don’t coach bash unless something is seriously wrong. Well, something is seriously wrong right now.

I'm not saying nothing is wrong, but I am being reasonable. I'm not going to blame every single thing on Cal just because I'm pissed over last year and losing to a 15 seed who is now in the elite 8.
