Wish I could still muster up this level of optimism. I guess the last 20 or so years has made me cynical. Props to you.Perhaps I do! Ha. Chalk it up to my optimism whenever a failed coach is fired and a new guy comes in. I think that is better than automatically being cynical about a new coach's potential success. All that said, I do not remember saying this about Mike Riley. I was, like almost everyone else, scratching my head over that hire. I was indeed optimistic about Pelini and Frost being hired, but so were a ton of others on here. They were both wildly popular hires at the time.
But I do think the optimism this time around is well-founded. Rhule has a proven track record of turning moribund college programs around. He is also connecting with the fan base and Osborne in a way no previous post-Solich coach has. He seems to genuinely love Husker football and the State of Nebraska and it seems he really does want this to be a destination job and knows what it takes to get us back to where we should be.
Time will tell if Rhule turns out to be another bust. But I really am more optimistic about this hire than I was even for the Frost hire.
Just fyi, makes the summer a lot easier… On the flip side, fall has been a huge disappointment, but summer is pretty much always good. Now let’s make fall good again!Wish I could still muster up this level of optimism. I guess the last 20 or so years has made me cynical. Props to you.
