recruiting guys this morning saying that Huskers re-evaluated needs and took a step back from him. Not hearing they didn’t want him, but that they cooled in him.
More info in the other thread about him and us cooling on him... interesting to say the least.recruiting guys this morning saying that Huskers re-evaluated needs and took a step back from him. Not hearing they didn’t want him, but that they cooled in him.
My bad, didn’t see itMore info in the other thread about him and us cooling on him... interesting to say the least.
I think it’s the one titled “another CB for...” or something like that.
No worries, the thread isn’t titled that you would know. Just thought you might like to see a little more insight. My bad, didn’t see it
It’s certainly possible that they liked Keyshawn Greene better, but just weren’t expecting to land him so they stayed on KJ just in case. IDK both would have been nice.If anyone says we cooled on him is just trying to make themselves feel better. They invested a lot of time into him and didn't all the sudden find something they didn't like.
I wouldn’t say the coaches cooled on him. They moved on from him once Greene committed. They gave it there all for Johnson, but when he was thinking about not signing and waiting for an LSU offer, the coaches had already gotten some very nice OLB commits that enabled them to not play his game.If anyone says we cooled on him is just trying to make themselves feel better. I think cooled on him is poor phrasing. But from all accounts, it seems clear that it became time that staff wanted a decision, or they would move on, and he wasn't ready to give one. I'm sure if he changed his mind after and wanted in, they still would have taken him. IMO, I would have waited and let him drag it out, as we had already come so far, but I'm not the one that has to put a class together. If anyone says we cooled on him is just trying to make themselves feel better. Yeah wasn't a good portion of our staff just there Fri or sat nightIf anyone says we cooled on him is just trying to make themselves feel better. They invested a lot of time into him and didn't all the sudden find something they didn't like.
And presumably that’s when the coaches told him to pee or get off the pot...Yeah wasn't a good portion of our staff just there Fri or sat night

And he did end up signing today, so it’s not like he decided to wait until February. It seems odd to me that we told him no thanks- if that’s what happened.I don’t dislike the approach, generally, but it seems strange this late in the process and for a guy who was seemingly a high priory for most of the year.
I don't think it was "no thanks" as much as "**** or get off the pot". I don't like it, but we are all on the outside looking in.And he did end up signing today, so it’s not like he decided to wait until February. It seems odd to me that we told him no thanks- if that’s what happened.
We won't know if he's a whiff or not for a couple of years.Probably our biggest whiff this signing class, look, it happens.
I think once we put better W/L record on the board we will land kids like this, and beat out the Wisconsin's of the world. GBR
KJ may have became less of a priority when Greene committed. Would they have taken both? Sure! They also are dealing with limited spots and possibly didnt want to risk missing on another recruit while waiting.I wouldn’t say the coaches cooled on him. Exactly. It's not the job of the NU staff to love this kid more than he loves Nebraska. He has his priorities and the staff has theirs, if he didn't want to commit and they told him he wasn't the only 4* kid they could get to sign, that's showbiz, baby.Don't think they cooled on him. They just told him to **** or get off the pot. They are sitting at 20ish commits at the time and had just pulled in a pile of LBs. Of course they would love to have him, but the it is a two-way street, he has to want to come here as well.
