Methinks that's a bit much. We may win, and I think overall we may be a bit better in talent but to act like Duke will be chopped liver in comparison to us is a bit of someone wearing their blue tinted glasses.
Fox and Monk should be the best backcourt in the country next year. But as much as I love Gabriel and Bam (and lord knows I do), Tatum and Giles will be the best 3/4 combo in the nation. Humphries and Jeter are extremely different players, but I'd probably call it a wash. Both teams will have a very solid bench. Duke will have a bit more experience than us though both teams will be young.
The situation itself kind of reminds me of 2012 when North Carolina had more talent coming back but we probably had more pure talent overall. Hopefully the result will be the same, but we will have to wait and see.
How can you say Giles will be that good after two consecutive injuries? I just don't see him having the polish or skill level to sustain his lead in talent/basketball level. Gabriel will be a top 5 recruit by end of the year, his ceiling is higher than Tatum. I expect Tatum and Gabriel will be close to wash.
You also forget SKJ. SKJ + BAM + Gabriel. our front court will destroy theirs.
Then our backup will be Mathews, Willis, Humphries, and Wynyard. That's solid returning cast.
This is one class where i say, Coach Cal HAS to win the title. This is sickeningly amazing class. I don't think there's a comparison.
