I would think with Nebraska football resources he would have won some conference championships. KSU is probably one of the toughest places to win at.
Maybe. But a couple conference titles isn't the expectation here. My point is that he is great up to a point. But something was always missing when it came to competing at the national level.
When people say things like his teams don't beat themselves, they are referring to Army, Navy, Iowa, Wisconsin and Kansas St. They are not referring to Alabama, Clemson, Ohio St.
Conservative teams that rely on diamonds in the rough and developing talent don't compete year after year for national titles anymore. It's just a fact.
For the record, I don't care if that's what Nebraska goes back to.
If it is determined that we can't compete on the recruiting trail with the top teams in the country, and we will have to turn into Wisconsin, where we win 8-10 games a year, play in a conference title game pretty consistently, win one every 4 or 5 years, but never really be in the national title hunt that's fine with me. It's the dudes clamoring for top 10 recruiting classes and competing with Michigan and Ohio St that you have to convince.
