That was very much the plan until he bombed at the combine. Most reports said he was the worst player there.
Really? I didn’t know that. He sounds like the prototypical college forward. Good college guy that people think could be a pro but in reality he’s not at that level. Makes the draft make sense last night. He played well but I think a lot of his limits were shown at UK and he still played quite a bit. Cal is stubborn but I will say he gives the most run to NBA quality guys. Mulder is about the only exception who could have gotten more minutes.

If he would have stayed at UK and not gotten drafted, UK fans would have been all over Cal for ruining him. Not one peep from anyone about Cronin. Not one. UK fans are the most negative fans in all of sports.
I mean everyone here wanted him back, he was a good college player but everyone could see his deficiencies while he was at UK. No coach is good enough to get him to improve his athletic ability or defense at the level it needed to be. Cronin did about the best he could have at getting him the offense I’ve looks to get selected, just left a year too late, apparently his draft workouts were horrible so it makes sense.

@Justwar I’ve never done this before on this 8 year old account or in the 5+ years on this forum before that, but I just reported you for false, defamatory accusations. Not gonna bank on a suspension coming your way, but that’s ok. Just want to make sure to put you on blast for being a punk and not providing receipts for your claims. Never heard of you, but you came out of left field talking that talk, and went ghost when you got called on it. You’re not even confident at your little keyboard on your dial up Internet in your double wide. You are a sad little man.

Has any prospect gone the G league route and not fallen in the draft? You would think, especially now with NIL, the G league route would be dead.
Worked out for Green and Kuminga last year, but I agree that NIL is swinging it back to college. Look at Mikey Williams as a prime example. Nobody thought he wanted anything to do with college. Now he’s all over it because his earning potential will be much higher than playing for a team no one watches.

Like mid second round I think. Way late for a green room invite.
You know the kid felt bad sitting there not getting his name called in the 1st round. Hopefully this will help a lot of kids considering the g-league over some school for a year or two.

A group chat where sir?? Literally the only group chat I’m in is a text chat with family members. This is just bizarre at this point.

He should have come out last year. But I suspect the NBA still would want to see consistency to prove that his hot streak in the tournament was not a fluke. He shot terribly in the combine so I was surprised he did not return.

Interesting!!! I actually care what the players do while they are at UK, not whether or not they get drafted or not. Had he stayed at UK and led us to a final four, as he did ucla last year, then what is there to complain about. Your take is nothing but a bunch of horseshit.

The agenda has changed. 18 months ago Cal was an idiot for letting this "star" get away. Now, undrafted, silence.
What is this obsession with where uk players get drafted? Oscar would not have gotten drafted this year and likely not next year either. Find me a UK fan that isn’t happy as hell to have him on our team. By the way sharpe got drafted 7th and best I can tell 95% don’t give a coach k’s *** about him.

His shooting ability is overrated imo. He got publicity because of the run in the NCAA Tournament last year. He’s a career 35% shooter from 3 (36% this past year). At UK, that would put him below guys like Ramel Bradley and Davion Mintz. He’s a decent player, but not nearly as good an outside shooter as he gets credit for. Good luck to him.

He absolutely should've gone last season. Many of us here said it. No way his stock was getting higher. He wasn't even having a great season then blew up in the NCAA tournament. This season didn't hear much about him so I guess we came back down to earth.

Massive mistake. Whoever talked him to coming back literally cost the kid millions.

Yeah, because going 9-16 and having BJ Boston make the NBA means so much more to fans than making a final 4 with good college players that doesn’t make it to the NBA. Juzang had a much better college career than BJ Boston.

Some players can be good in college and not get drafted. Ever heard of Jeff Shepard. He was the Most Outstanding Player of the 1998 NCAA Tournament. He also wasn’t drafted. I really think his son made a mistake picking UK, cause a player like Jeff would never get much of a chance under Calipari. Hopefully Reed shows NBA potential, cause if he doesn’t, he will never get a chance to shine like his dad did.

The Athletic has a story that ripped Juzang:

ohnny Juzang, 6-6 junior guard, UCLA. “I see him as an overseas player. The three weeks he had in the NCAA Tournament two years ago turned out to be the best he ever played. He’s never gotten to be a great shooter. He doesn’t move well laterally and doesn’t stay connected through screens. He just has a ceiling. I don’t think he’s the toughest kid in the world. Sometimes you run out of talent. Everybody got in his *** last year, and he couldn’t make shots. He doesn’t compete hard enough for me. He doesn’t make anybody else better.”

Not sure this guy’s draft status means jack **** regarding college. Is he a good player? Yeah. Would we have taken him over Boston last year? Absolutely.

What an NBA scout thinks doesn’t mean a damn thing for the college game considering they just drafted a guy #7 who hasn’t played against college competition at all. The NBA and Cal is obsessed with athleticism. Being a good college player doesn’t mean anything to them.

I honestly don’t think Juzang is an NBA caliber player. He can definitely spot up and knock down shots but the guy is not very athletic and looks flat footed to me. NBA guards would drive on his *** all day long

After his bad combine, bad tournament and mediocre year there was no reason for Juzang to not come back to school. He could have earned NIL and competed for a natty and improved his stock. And earned a degree. But some people have no interest in being in college. Not saying this is the case with him, but it can be a factor with some. Maybe he feels like he maxed out his potential, but that is strange considering he was injured for some of this year. He had a starting spot at UCLA he was not recruited over.

The only reason this board thinks he's a stud is as a means to bash Cal for losing him. His transfer was never big deal, good not great college player. Has a chance to develop in the G league and make a spot, similar to the transfer Cal picked up that went that route (his name escapes me at moment, played for the Warriors).

Kids that don’t get drafted should be able to come back, now here’s the dilemma. The agent, how far has he crossed the Kanter/Freedom line with his agent. If he’s only crossed the line times 10, sure, no problem, let him go back to College. I don’t think It bothered me a little bit that he transferred back home, it was COVID but UCLA. Thank goodness they didn’t win a Natty. Who bothered me was his dad talking on tv obviously with that big fat stuffed wallet in his backside.
