Only error on segment was Seth Davis saying “ it must be tough for KY fans to watch” when really he should’ve said “it must be tough for Cal to watch”. I think most fans knew he would be a good player.
Anyway, I think he was more homesick than transferring because of playing reasons.

Apparently he almost transferred midway through his freshman season.

I think you don't have a clue and simply trying to provide an excuse for the mouth.

He is happy to be as far away from Cal as possible.

I think it’s more he’s happy to be as close to Cali as possible.

like we’ve seen with a lot of Cali recruits over the years, the only one I remember staying was Hayes.

And I think he could see Allen was a better shooter to back up Boston.

Cal would have screwed up MJ if he coached him. Cal is all mouth which is why he use to be good at recruiting. However, there is too much visible evidence that Cal is clueless for him to continue with the same recruiting success he had when he first arrived.

"His dad says he wasn't used right at Kentucky." If he was used right he would not have transferred. Those talking about homesick don't know anything more than I do. Bottom-line; this simply does not do good things for our program regarding new prospective recruits. We really need UCLA to lose now.

Cal again MUST turn-around next season. He definitely has lost his mojo with the top tier of high school recruits. I see Goldwire from Duke is now in the grad transfer portal and he might be a pg to consider given all his experience. Plus, maybe he can bring some insider secrets to Duke's practice and philosophy.

He doesn’t value shooters, simple as that. If you’re a dead eye shooter and lack a little on defense, you’re riding the bench. If you’re draft stock isn’t as high as the guy in front of you, you ride the bench. No matter if you’re outperforming the guy in front of you.

For anyone that isn’t a Cal nut hugger, you recognized Cal did this all season with Allen. No other player on our roster (outside of Mintz) could become the focal point of our offense like Allen could. When Cal used him effectively, he couldn’t take Allen off the floor.

His dad actually said it a little different for Juzang’s situation. He said Juzang was being used solely as a spot up shooter, and that was limiting for Juzang with his skill set.

With the way the PG play was this year I don’t think he would have looked all that great here .

We know Maxie Juzang, Johnny's father. My wife and I worked with him at a medical software company in FL in the early 2000's. My wife knows him better than I do. That's how I got tickets on the 3rd row at the Vandy game last year. His father has been a healthcare IT executive for many years. He's very sharp, nice and they have a great family.

I took Maxie's statement and the way he said it as a diplomatic way of saying they disagree strongly with how Johnny was utilized at UK. Frankly, I think they were taken by surprise by it.

Maxie also said that with COVID and not knowing how bad it would be and how long it would last was the other reason they wanted Johnny closer to home. I believe this to be an honest and sincere reason as well.

Cal gave him opportunities and he knew he would of gotten alot of minutes here but wanted to transfer back home because he was homesick. Some people just like to use every little thing against Cal and cant give him credit for anything

Yes, I get that. I meant to expand on my post and forgot. Gotta lot going on here at the house. My Sundays are hectic.

I think that Allen was basically told he was only going to be used this year as a spot up shooter and really nothing more. I think that’s a big reason we rarely saw him put the ball on the floor.

He put the ball on the floor a couple times in that last game and did some good things. Had a beautiful spin and drop off pass for a basket. He also made a floater in the lane. He is a little shaky with the ball right now, but I think he’s much better than what we’ve been shown.

This is basically the same thing Cal did with Juzang. He pigeon holed him into being able to catch and shoot. These type of guys aren’t allowed to play through mistakes, so that makes it even worse. No trial and error.

I don’t blame him. Tough being homesick. I lived in California for two years. I’d rather live in a crack house in Portland, Louisville.
A kid like him is use to traveling all over the country playing AAU ball, so it is unlikely that he is a mama's boy who needs to be at home. Also, if he goes to the NBA or overseas, he won't spend much time in Cali so come up with something better.

Those shooters he doesn't value as much are the ones that beat him, lately we have great athletes but not great shooters Allen being an exception that's why teams have been zoning us forever. Slasher and drivers can't get to the rim but shooters can shoot defenses out of a zone. You can't ever have enough shooters, something Cal doesn't agree with I guess.

Cal misidentifies his limited imagination as players' having limited abilities. He doesn't know how to use his weapons; therefore, he has to blame them because it is never his fault. It is always described as they don't perform well in practice or they can't play defense.

But preaches positionless basketball. His offense limits everyone to a position, especially the 4 and 5. Kids don’t want to play a traditional 4 and the 5 anymore. Look what Zion is doing with the Pelican’s.

And his mom is hot. Or was that his sister?
Every kid that goes to UK is a prima Donna. Think they should start and play 30+ minutes. They all play hero ball and are selfish players. Experience and maturity make for better ball players. If Jusang is having a decent year at UCLA, it is because he is a year older, had college experience and played against quality players in practice while at UK. Cronin didn’t make Jusang a better player. All players mature at their own pace. Cal has more players in the NBA than any other coach. Do not discount his ability to recognize talent and a kid’s skill set.

Juzang was prime to be a major contributor to UK this past year. His selfishness along with EJ Montgomery and Hagans assisted in our 9-16 season.

Don’t think I would call him selfish. He did what he felt was in his best interest. And it’s worked out for him. Nothing but respect for that.

I am sure that Cal's apologists have the perfect response for why Cal screwed that talented shooter.
He had opportunities every game. He played every game . He could not , as a freshman, beat out IQ and Maxey for more playing time. I am not an apologists as you suggest but I do like to deal in reality. If he had stayed he would have been our best player this year.
