If true does this all but remove us from the RJ Hampton sweepstakes? Really think that dude is going to a stud wherever he decides to play.

Still, I would be more than happy with Juzang if it is a sure thing he is coming here. Can’t turn a player like him down in hopes of another reclassing and committing.

We weren't getting Hampton anyway.

But that’s a bummer. Juzang is still a great get. How much of an upgrade will he be over Baker? Will he take some time to find his stride or can he be an immediate contributor?

I've only seen him play once and he wasn't a guy I knew to watch for. He kind of blended in, but he was running with the Mobley brothers on a juggernaut of a squad.

His ranking suggests he's an impact guy but not a game changer. Jerry Meyer loves his rebounding as a guard and compared his game to James Young (straight line drives, good athlete, good shooter). I'll take a guy like that every year.

The chatter here is that he fancies himself one and done, so he must be pretty good. Maybe that's inaccurate, I'm not sure where it comes from.

Baker was a 4 star ranked like 60-80th can't remember exactly where and Juzanf is 21st in 2020 so I would assume he will be at least 24th-28th at worse. So does this give us the #1 class now or do we have to wait for McDaniels?

Bc you wait for a kid to set an announcement... its his time not mine.

So, you hear it on Saturday but don't say anything because "its his time" and not yours. Yet, you still post before he announces. How is that not taking his shine???

He’s another one that trains at my brothers training facility. My brother isn’t that impressed by him but haven’t seen him much during the season, our family friend who scouts for the Rockets though really really likes him. Both said he’s really 6’4 1/2 max though even though he tells people he’s 6’7

I’ll share this with everyone because I think it’s cool....

My daughter (13) has a white board in her room where she had every player from last years team listed. As she heard news on each, she wrote things such as:
- transfer
- entered name in draft
- gone
- BACK!

She’s been tracking as we go. Yesterday, I go into her room to wake her up, and on top of the board she had written:
- Blackshear????!!!
- Juzang???!!!
- McDaniels???!!!

Cool as hell.
This is awesome. I have two very young daughters and I hope that they are as interested in UK basketball as I am when they get older.

On a totally different note. Your daughter seems to follow UK closer than Michael Bennett does....and he has his own radio show before the Leach report. Lol

We are landing players I really like while KU and Dook are getting the leftovers, well I guess KU will get some leftovers. How many people were just bitching about how Cal couldn't recruit anymore like 2--3 weeks ago? LMFAO

In 2017 Baker was ranked 76th, so apples and oranges comparing him and Juzang.

https://future150.com/hs/basketball-rankings/2017/50/

Not necessarily. Baker was coming into his 3rd year in the program. A freshman Juzang doesnt mean he will be better than a 3rd year Baker simply off rankings. Not saying one is better than the other, just saying that we cant go off HS rankings as a factor. Thats all. Only time will tell. Myself, I would prefer Baker in his 3rd year because of experience, intangibles, roster, and a loaded wing department. Thats just my opinion though and obviously not happening. I think losing Baker was a big blow. Not insurmountable but a blow none the less.

Love it on Twitter there was a ton of Virginia fans celebrating that he was coming there because Guy is gone for sure. Rebuild. Oh yeah plus there was literally one KU fan celebrating like he was going there, priceless!

I realize having an experienced player is always good, but the guy was asking about rankings in comparison and that's all we really have to go off of. The kid could come in and light it up. When you're talking a guy ranked 21st or higher vs. a guy ranked 76th Juzang definitely has the higher ceiling. That's a huge difference, talking 50+ spots, but I get what you are saying.

lol how noble. He hasn't set an announcement time. You don't even know for sure when it'll be. So then why wait until we already know and pretend it's a scoop?

The article didn’t mention committing to Kentucky, it mentioned reclassifying i thought?

Baker not up to UK standard? I don't know about all that. The kid could play. It was basically his freshman season this year and still started the season out hurt and way behind the rest of the guys. Played his way into the lineup and produced. He the exact type of player that we need to stick around multiple years and provide us with a lot their junior or senior year. I couldn't disagree with you more about Baker. Hope Juzang can live up to your expectations.

Baker was never going to be more than an 8th man here. I conceded in my post that he COULD have improved and come up to UK standards by his third or fourth year. Did you miss that part?

My expectations have nothing to do with it. We're the gold standard in college basketball. You build every roster with as much talent and cohesion as possible. If a player like Baker isn't okay with primarily sitting on the bench for a year or two at a powerhouse like UK, with a possible opportunity at a bigger role his junior and senior year, that's on him. We don't need to be catering to our 8th-9th man. He had two options: Get better, or leave. He chose the second, and he had every right to do so and I wish him all the best.

If Baker has to go for a player like Juzang to come in you take that trade 10 times out of 10. You're insane if you wouldn't.

I like this kid. Rebounds, can shoot, has good size at the 2. Can create his own shot. Has good handles. Definitely looks like the kind of kid that could make huge strides under Coach Cal.

The only one I;d back up is BigBlueFanGA.. I think that post had to be right after a tournament loss. He's an otherwise good poster I think.

The rest are morons or nobodies.

Blue63Madison.. Jesus, that guy used to throw some of the worst tantrums on these forums. He actually popped back up recently.. poor douche bag probably suffered his 8th stroke after we lost to Auburn.
Dudeeee yes on Blue63Madison sheesh oh mighty! He and I HATEDDDD each other

Geez, I wasnt attacking you. Relax.

You said that Juzang is a massive upgrade over Baker and that he is not UK material next year. I disagree. You realize that Juzang will take Baker's place in the rotation, right? He will be in the same spot that Baker was in. He isnt taking IQ or Maxey's minutes. I think you have extremely high expectations for a reclass freshman. Call me crazy but I dont see him giving us a ton more than Baker would have next year. Thats just how I see it. He is a great replacement for Baker, dont get me wrong and Im trilled to have him but I dont see him making the impact that you are implying simply based off opportunity. He is going to be in the exact spot that you were using for your argument on Baker. He is going to be our 8th-9th man, our last backcourt option just like Baker. Also, seems like he is set on being a OAD. In my opinion, Id take Baker plus 2 extra years of filling that Darius Miller role that wins championships. Thats just my opinion. Its ok if we disagree.

Being the gold standard is about championships, not just about accumulating the most talent. Talent does not automatically equal championships, as we have seen. There are alot more intangibles involved and the most talented team rarely wins the title. The best TEAM usually win the championship. We need players like Baker to stick around. We need Darius Miller glue guys.
