Duke recruited him briefly last year, but his knees went out and we went after Javin. It'd be nice to have them both. He's a 6'11 athletic combo. He'd be a nice fit but currently we have Javin and are looking at Zion, Bagley, Williams and Matthew Hurt in 2019. The front court could be crowded though Bagley and Williamson are probably not going to be in Duke blue.

I would say Bagley will stay on the west coast. He said he liked uk and Duke because they get guys to the NBA, but he likes UCLA, Arizona, and recently added USC to his list because they are close to his home.

I know he's not a front court player but what about Langford? U think he stays close and goes to IU or Louisville or do u think he comes to Duke(Which I'm Hoping)?

I'm not super confident with Langford, especially if we get the other few guys we're looking at on the wing. Regardless, 2018 should be a banner class...on paper at least.

I agree about the 2018 class being a banner class and especially if RJ Barrett reclassifies. I think Duke has a real shot with him and he's a phenomenal player.

This why I wish Chase would've taken a year off with Duke. We all know he would've benefit from from a Redshirt year.

Not ripping Chase as I wish him the best but was anyone seriously impressed with the kids play at all?

Not really, but I liked his attitude, height and mobility. He may or may not realize that potential, but I wanted to find out. He is a better than average backup big.

I was impressed with his hustle and effort while out there. I still think he has the physical skills. I am very sorry to see him go.

I thought he impressed in spots. He was very raw offensively and looked confused, in general, on that side of the court. But I thought he had a knack for rebounding and could have been good defensively. I really wish he had been in his true high school class. We had freshman on the team this season who were older than him.

I would replace "impressed" with "surprised".

Assuming we lose Bolden/Carter, we're going to need 2-3 additional big men for 2019. I would expect Javin/Vrank to be there, and probably 2 freshmen. But truth be told, there's not a whole lot of quality bigs that we're looking at in the 2018 class. Emmitt Williams, David McCormack, and maybe Moses Brown. I don't expect us to land Zion or Bagley. After 2+ years in college, it's very possible that Durham would be better than the two freshmen bigs that we sign. Transfers are always nice because they don't take up PT the first year, and they get that additional year to develop their game (or recover if they've had lingering injuries).

Chase was like a lot of bigs that come to college. It takes bigs longer to adjust to game and Chase would fall into that category IMO. Given then the right shot and minutes for the right team and Chase will be a very good big man. You don't teach hustle and effort and those were his best assets. The rest will come in time given the right environment and team. Duke is not for everyone and it just didn't fit Chase. At the next school he could dominate and move on to the next level. The potential is there but how Duke uses bigs just didn't work for him.

Duke's record with incoming transfers is pretty great - Roshown McLeod, Dahntay Jones, Seth Curry, Rodney Hood, and Sean Obi as far as i know. Obi was the only flop and i personally didn't love Jones but he was still good.

If he visits and Coach K wants him i think its a great move to see how it works

I liked Jeter, a bright young man who seemed to have a great attitude. But he was over-ranked and was very raw. I don't know what kind of conversation occurred during the season between Coach K and him but it seemed that a decision was made in January that he was not going to play. I wish him luck. And yes, a transfer raw big man who will learn for a year would only be a plus.

Is Jeter our lowest performing 5 star recruit ever???

Update: just looked it up, and it's definitely either Jeter or DT. Pick your poison.

He was fine i guess, but i'd never put him on a list of players i liked. He was really good as a senior, i thought that team over-achieved in general. But I loved chris duhon and daniel ewing on that team, for reasons unknown i guess.

Jeter was on his way to having a solid year before he got injured. Age wise, he should have been a Freshman this year. If he was a freshman this year, which he really should have been, he would have had a very respectful year this year if he had not gotten hurt. And, it is not like he was top 5 in his class, which was weak to begin with. This year, he might have been ranked a little lower.

Some of you guys on this board are so impatient, you would have traded Tom Brady for a 7th round draft pick before he ever got to take a snap for the Pats.
