I hate to be part of rumors, this was written in some article I read so that it for what its worth. Jalen Hurts is considering Maryland and there is a very good possibility he ends up there with coaching connections.

Hurts would have to sit a year I think and we dont play Maryland in 2020 or 2021, so not a big deal for us.

off topic:
Glancing at our 2021 schedule it’s pretty brutal. 2020 is tough as well.

No doubt B1G gave us the shaft on scheduling though. It’ll be something to watch going forward.

We need to get to the point where schedule doesn’t matter much, being able to compete with everyone.

He would be a grad transfer. He would not have to sit out from what I have read.

Curious how he thinks he can get a transfer waiver to be immediately available. As far as I can tell, the reason he is transferring is that GA already has a good QB, which he certainly knew about when he signed.

If you’re referring to hurts, he’s at Alabama. And as a grad transfer, all you need to do is graduate with elegivility remaining, and then go to a university that carries your major.

If those parameters are met, he can go without penalty.

Edit: my bad, you’re referring to fields. Forget the rest of this post.

I mean what is the rationale for transfers not being able to play right away for NCAA football/bball? Didn't Lexi Sun play volleyball for us right away when she transferred from Texas a year ago? The double standard doesn't make any sense?

The rule is not the same across the board for all sports. And while it seems strange and we can all stomp our feet about how bad the NCAA is, we all need to remember that the member schools make the rules, the NCAA just enforces them

I'm just waiting for an athlete to the sue the NCAA and say-- "if a coach can take another job at any time, sometimes for as few as 20 days, and not have to sit out-- why should I?" I have no idea what their counter point would be. They would talk about competitive balance, etc. but I'm guessing to a judge that would fall on deaf ears. A lot of transfers are already getting waivers. Pretty soon I'm guessing the number of transfers sitting out will be dwarfed by the number being able to play right away.

The rationale is that unrestricted free agency wouldn’t be good for college football programs, not because it is good or bad for the players. Ethically I think that is fine as organizations should be allowed to act in their own best interests. The problem is that while restricted free agency is legally fine in pro sports due to collective bargaining with the player’s union. No such thing exists in college sports. In fact, there is a question as to whether the restrictions in college sports is collusion? That has always been the legal question.

My understanding is that a hardship case will be made to say that he is in a racist environment. I read that a baseball player spit in his face and called him a racist slur. It would be the first case I've ever been aware of where a hardship was filed for this reason. I'll be interested to see if he's successful.

The counter point is chaos. You get 10x what we saw in the 1st 4 weeks where you have players that don't get the starting spot or don't get the reps right away and they leave.

Yep. It would be like the wild west. I think the transfer rule with kids sitting out a year is a good one. Forces kids to try to show some perseverance rather than quit & transfer if you're mad at your coach.

So what is he thinking that Haskins is announcing that he is entering the NFL draft...

I known we welcome competition but with the way Adrian established him last year, do you think Frost showed even the slightest interest? I don’t want to be naive guy and think we would turn away a 5 star dual threat qb, but honestly makes me wonder

I guess I don't understand leaving Georgia for OSU. Haskins might not leave, they have Martell, and I'm sure more 4/5 stars on the way.

If you're going to the trouble of doing a transfer why not set yourself up for huge success?

Do we know that Frost didn’t beat the bushes a bit?

It makes me wonder why, just because someone is transferring to Ohio State, the assumption is that we sat idly by watching it happen without putting out any feelers on the matter.

Has it been stated somewhere that Frost and company did nothing?

No, not implying that he did nothing, just legitimately curious if we had any interest at all with the way AM emerged last year...would love to see the competition between those two play out but didn’t know what kind of affect it may have on AM’s psyche bringing a guy like that in

Not quite true...the baseball player was yelling "put the (racist slur) in" from the stands during a game.

It will be ridiculous if he gets a waiver for this and it will open up everyone else to claim something similar.

Hunter Johnson isn’t a QB that worries me. The little I read about Clemson and there QBs Johnson wasn’t exactly clicking right out of the gates and struggled a tad. But then again, they do have the number 1 QB I’m the country as well.
