78 vs OU, hell of a game plus you get Keith Jackson on the call. Rick Berns was a really good back.

Keith Jackson....will there ever be another?
I was at that game. I was a sophomore at UNL. Remains in my memory as the greatest game I ever attended there. Still remember marching down O street behind the crowd carrying parts of the goal posts.
Considered the greatest game ever at Memorial Stadium. Notice how long the pre-game with Jackson and Broyles was. Obviously, there was no espn or others to add a lot of games to the day, but it shows how big this game really was in 1978.

I wasn't there that day but i got in on a couple of those going to o St with the goal posts.
Not as big of a bummer as that loss to Missouri that caused it to happen. Ugh.
Very true. I was in Omaha selling fat cattle at the stockyards and stayed at the leisure lanes motel that had a big bowling alley next to it. Couldn't believe how many people in Omaha were rooting against Nebraska in the bowl game. There were a lot of Hawkeye fans around there
How quickly we forget Jim Rose.
First game for me as well. It was so damn cold, or as Keith Jackson said, “ cold enough to make a brass monkey clank.” I was nervous as hell about OU just tearing up Nebraska, or stealing the game in the last few minutes, of which they were close on the latter. But it was a helluva win.
It was a loss, but the TD pass at the end let NU cover the spread. Which made bettors happy.
The Husker Defensive Assistant Lance Van Zandt, formerly an OU assistant, low-bridged OU ball carrier David Overstreet in the 3rd Quarter when he ran out of bounds on the Husker sideline. Gave him a forearm to the helmet.

Cool to see the old stadium. I love listening to the band's pregame routine in the background. I'm currently enjoying "the majestic strains of March Grandioso!"
My favorite comment is by Frank Broyles at 14:18-14:22 - "Passing coaches have been known to, well, deflate the ball a little bit." Laughing
Present.....section 19. My buddy was literally hanging from the goalposts in the South end zone.

I was at that game about 60 rows up in the north end zone. Here is what I remember
-It was colder than a witches tit that day.
-Of course the no call on the Oklahoma fumble. Next to Rodgers punt return probable the next most famos Nebraska play
-we didn't even try to find a bar downtown after that game. Went to havelock and got the last booth in Arnold's
-that was probably one of the best Oklahoma teams of all time. But, they went to the orange bowl and got embrassment by an Arkansas team who had basically suspended their entire first string. One of the Most embrassing bowl performances ever.
That was the 78 OB. We lost to OU in the 79 OB after this game.
