I lived in Louisiana for a while.

Those heathens put sugar in their cornbread.

They also eat these.

They call it “ Chadron” or to us non French folks, Thistleweed that you see everywhere in spring out in fields.

they will strip the stalk , cut it up into pieces , soak it in vinegar and add salt/pepper/Tony’s

I grew up in rural NE Mississippi, too. Sugar and/or honey. Then butter that ****. All. Damn. Day.

Sugar in collards, NEVER in corn bread. If you get more NEMS than me you'd be in Tn.

I'm a cornbread connoisseur. I miss the days when I got to try all the different recipes. I have heard the best cornbread is actually in Thailand.. Never tried it though. Worst cornbread mistake of my life was slicing up 100 hundred jalapenos without wearing gloves and then hand mixing cornbread a little later that evening.... I burnt that cornbread like you can not imagine.

Feel free to post cornbread pics gents. No corndogs though.

Field peas with sugar, salt, pepper, butter, few slabs of bacon. That's some good stuff.
