At least be realistic you have 970 offensive snaps not including Runs by Grier, sacks of Grier, passes attempted by the backup QB, and runs a by the WR.

Let's say 1000 snaps in 13 games.
That is 77 a game.

You are a little optimistic but more so you are putting expectations on your team and players that cannot be reached.

Singer/Songwriter Ray Wylie Hubbard once said when his gratitude for his day is higher than his expectations he has a pretty good day.

Guess what happens when it is the other way around.

You are let down and depressed.

Please, let me apologize for being a little excited about the upcoming football season and having a little fun with predictions. It is very comforting for me to know that someone, such as yourself, is willing to step up and give me the tough love i obviously need for posting such a ridiculous fairy tale. I mean, wow, what was i thinking? A team running 77 plays in a game .Geez, that would have to be some kind of record i bet. Since the average college football team runs only 72 offensive plays a game, i can clearly see why you would suggest i need to be more realistic in my prediction

In hindsight, i must accept what i wrote was wrong and just plain selfish. Who am I to come to this public forum and just start randomly placing so much pressure on these kids for my own entertainment .I truly thank you for pointing this out to me. I would have never known the potential damage i was inflicting, by suggesting that Gary Jennings would score six TDs or Kennedy McCoy could throw a football a couple times and someone would catch it .The more i think about it the more "let down" i become. I have to come to grips with my obvious delusional thinking. Who knows how bad it would have become if you didnt step up. This whole board owes you a tremendous gratitude .If it werent for people like yourself, who selflessly monitor forums such as this one , the common man may think its ok to offer a lighthearted post.

I must admit i am not familiar with the singer/songwriter Ray Wylie Hubbard, or his quote, but I do want to express my gratitude, that in a few days i will get the opportunity to watch my beloved Mountaineers begin another football season. On paper the team looks like it has a chance to be very good and i will be rooting hard every game and still making these crazy predictions. I may even share one or two from time to time , with the expectation of course, you will be there to critique them and try to remove any ounce of fun that may come with them. That my friend, is what i would define as depressing.

You still dont get it. Teams in the AAC and the MAC run 90+ plays a game. Very easy to have the numbers manipulated because g5 conference teams tend to play faster.

Regarding WVU. OU and Baker Mayfield took a step up to having a record offense not by playing faster but by playing slower and being a lot more creative with Flowers and Andrews.

WVU's offense last year had major issues. Unless DH changes playcalling and is able to bring in a lot different looks WVU will be 7-5 or 8-4.

If WVU would go 11-1 it would be because of less Will Grier and not more of him.
Not saying Grier is not a great QB but he is not great enough to make WVU great by himself.
You need more OLine and more DLine
More slower methodical football at times.

7-6 to 12-1?

Possible if WVU's offense and defense takes a huge leap and some teams fall back.

WVU in 2018 best comparison would be Oklahoma St 2017.
If Oklahoma, TCU and Texas take a step back or in Texas' case does not progress than it could happen.
Stranger things have happened like Baylor winning the conference.

I think the Big XII has changed enough the last 5 years that a team like Baylor of 2013 and 2014 would not win the conference in 2018.

Excellent point. If WVU is going to win 12 games they will be a dominant run team.
I am not talking about running the ball when the Safeties are back and you have 7 dropped back in coverage.
I am talking about 3rd and 3 on the opening drive or 3rd and Goal from the 2.

Rushing yards are a misnomer. The question is can a team run when your opponent knows you are going to run.
The answer for WVU has been no.

WVU's D was not awful last year but because of quick drives and lack of depth it was an issue when they needed a stop.

Dante Stills is a good young DL. He should be a star. He will not be freshman of the year. Very difficult as a DL.
Caden Sterns will be freshman of the year and it will not be close.
Nothing against Stills but he is not End Oliver.
Sterns is an once in maybe 5-10 year S.

Goes to show what you know, but as a Texass fan you not knowing anything about anything is a given. One thing for sure, you'll be around to let us know though.

Let me educate you.

Last year, regarding running, you have a small point. The change to a new offensive coordinator got us away from being a more physical, running team as he tended to rely more on Will Grier to find an answer. That will have to change.

Second, WVU's defense WAS awful. In every facet. It even allowed a sorry-assed team like Texass enforce their will. WVU will not go 12-1, 10-2, or anything else close to that unless the defense can improve to upper-echelon status. I don't think with the personnel we have we are there yet. Hope I'm proven wrong.

Third, screw Sterns and the Texass Trojan Horse he rode in on. You Texass fans make me root for Maryland and that is saying something.

No reason to be upset by simple logic.

Caden Sterns who was the star of stars in the US Army All American game is an early enrollee.
More than that he added 10 pounds of muscle and hit the ground running.

He is best S since Jamal Adams to enter college.

Ha Ha. Sure he is....

May he break his pinky and thumb in a Texass circle jerk and suffer erectile dysfunction...
Texas has another 5 star freshman safety behind Sterns.
Sterns is just the best of the three and is much better in the SS/ Boundary safety role.
All three could be starting in 2019 if Brandon Jones leaves early.
