I've been posting on your board since you joined the B1G...Put me down as an opposing fan that has respect for your program, would rather see you win the west rather than iowa/wisconsin..

But i see a lot of rich rod in frost at nebraska... i see a team that has the talent to win but for 4 years it hasn't shown results on the field..Us michigan fans had the same belief in rich rod...Oh wait until he gets his recruits...Oh wait until he finds a QB..DT..CB...etc

Mistakes...Turnovers...penalties = bad coaching...plain and simple, i don't care what QB you have...some of calls frost makes is mind boggling...on the goalline 1 yard...go into the damn iform and punch it in....at the 5 yard against michigan...kick the damn FG, we ain't alabama where you have to gamble to win...It's systematic, just a basic offense, fewer mistakes and you're 5-2 at worst.

Next issue i see is recruiting...How do you get better when i guarantee your recruiting will get worse....you can't keep trotting out 5-7 seasons and expect top level talent to want to sign up after 4 years...this was rich rod

Best coach on your staff is your dcord...I see development and confidence in that group...

Who knows maybe i'm wrong and you win 10 games next year.

Good luck

Thanks for the outside perspective. When Michigan hired RichRod I thought you guys would dominate the B1G forever. I obviously am not the one who should be making coaching decisions, for anyone. 😂

Good luck the rest of the season.

Thanks for the outside perspective. I think what you posted is the general consensus for our fans. Frost is a failed experiment, and his failure is now affecting recruiting. We all wanted him to work out, but he just hasn’t.

We are at more of a disadvantage with coaching changes because of limitations in recruiting in this region. Thus, we need stability (like the Devaney/Osborne era). However, we also can’t allow Frost’s failures to continue and spiral out of control. It is just a relatively crappy situation.

There are a lot of similarities indeed, OP. Rich Rod had a lot of horizontal dumb **** going on his offense and Frost did that for the first 3 years and has done that up until the MSU game of this season.

I'll make this sound easy, but it's also not really that hard to figure out what has worked at Nebraska - downhill rushing attack, good defense and good special teams.

Number one problem is that the special teams is the worst in the Big Ten. Defense has gotten better, but it's not anywhere near top in the Big Ten yet. On offense the redzone production is horrendously bad.

Thanks for the perspective, yeah, the similarity is that I'm sure people that Rich Rod was a sure fire to succeed with a bigger program just like people here with Frost. It is the same old stuff 4 years running now, dumb mistakes, poor special teams, turnovers, penalties.

No, you're right. Frost tries to outscheme opponents when he should be manufacturing wins however he can get them. He's myopic about roster management. He doesn't demand accountability and neglects key aspects of the team. He needs to go.

What are your thoughts about us hiring Brady Hoke if we fire Frost?

Not a terrible take but there are some HUGE differences. One of the reasons Rich Rod succeeded at West Virginia and failed miserably when he left was that he was a West Virginia alum. He had the complete unwavering support of his AD and fan base. It didn't hurt I suppose either that he was WV's head coach at a time when their schedule was pretty friendly. Fast forward to RR at Michigan. He was not a Michigan man and his support was not long lived. He was an outsider who didn't relate well to the alums, boosters and fan base. Bad fit.

Frost even throughout this losing streak still has the support of a large portion of the fan base due to his history at NU. Likewise Harbaugh while struggling at Michigan retained the support of his fan base, AD and most alums. He fits there. He's been given the time and finally has his QB. I said from the day that they landed their current starter that this might be the year he finally gets them over the hump. Michigan has always been easy to recruit to and they were loaded when he arrived. IF he gets to the point where he's putting QBs in the NFL, watch out. The same could be said for Frost but you have to remember where this program was starting from when we hired Frost. The roster was horrible and he didn't inherit the kind of talent Harbaugh did. Getting to 8 wins with the talent Jim had when he arrived was relatively easy.

The question then is do you ride with Frost or do you start the process all over again with a new head coach. I think IF we were to fire Frost that our fan base would be very disappointed with whatever name we could hire. We're not getting a Jim Harbaugh from the NFL. It would either be an older retread OR a young coach without P5 experience. We're not getting Luke Fickell nor would I actually want him. We're delusional. Spoiled by Tom's success. Older fans still living in the past and younger fans "wanting it NOW!". IMO, if we fire Frost we'll continue the carousel until after I'm dead and gone. As I've aged I've grown more patient and have gotten careful about what I wish for.

I would agree with many of the comments from the OP and others. I do think your D has improved quite a bit with the Minnesota game being the exception. The major weakness in your D that I see currently is there is really no true pass rusher. Most of the pressure comes from the DC calls but that could be fixed through recruiting the portal or JC. Inside backers are okay. JoJo is maybe your best defender.

On offense there is just no consistency. Sometimes I think the play calling just puts the defense in terrible positions whether it's time of possession or turnovers. Right now there is no great tailback. A number of decent backs (and they are young) but no one a defense necessarily has to game plan for at this point. WR's and TE's seem pretty good. Top half of the league I would guess. O line is struggling but that position takes the longest to develop. And at QB I think he is what he is at this point. Sometimes brilliant and other times his decision making is terrible and mind blowing.

The offensive inconsistency has one common denominator. Your QB is the driver of your offense and when your QB can't hit wide open receivers 10 yards in front of him over the middle, you're screwed. When your QB can't remember to protect the football in the waning minutes of a tight game, you're screwed. I like Adrian. I think he's a very talented QB but damn his mental lapses have killed us for 3 years now.
