What if Kelvin Sanction’s phone had been out of order in Indiana in 2007 or so.

Instead of one appearance beyond the Sweet 16 in 28 years, and Creepy Crean and Little Archie followed by the hire of a no-name 63-year-old coach with zero College coaching experience, IUse2Be might have been a perennial contender.

Yikes. Thank goodness Kelvin’s dialing finger was in prime shape back then - Leading to 15 more years of failure.

Lots of what ifs. One of my biggest was "what if" Ray Allen picked UK? We likely get past UNC in that three-point-shooting debacle in 1995, and quite possible win the 1995 and 1996 titles. His presence likely costs us landing Anderson as a transfer, but that might have been a good thing because Pitino would have had to recruit another guard for the 1997 season. Anderson wasn't available for the 1997 title run, but the other guard (who Pitino signed instead of Anderson) likely would have been. That extra player in the 1997 Final Four could have made the difference.

So you're likely looking at Final Four in 1995, title in 1996, and titles in 1997 and 1998.

And all because Pitino wouldn't say hello to Ray Allen at a restaurant.

I just love that it's adding even more heartbreak for IU fans. They are having to pay Miller 10 million to leave so they can hire their 50th option in Mike Woodson. I literally had to Google the guy to know who he was. Meanwhile, their former coach is in the F4. 🤣

It really couldn't have been funnier to behold.
