Just got done with the HBO doc The Scheme...

[Bcash2]

holy. ****.
1) Christian Dawkins got absolutely 17ed
2) 17 the feds and their chickenshit buffoonery
3) As Dawkins said, the moral of the story is "17 the NCAA"

Since we're bumping sports posts. Did anyone else watch this? Great stuff.

Haven't seen it... what's the gist?

Covers the big NCAA pay-for-play scandal involving Will Wade (LSU), Sean Miller (Arizona) among others. Basically the FBI was pushing hard to catch coaches getting paid to funnel players to certain agents, so much that they (IMO) borderline entrapped an aspiring agent. Made a big press conference acting like they were about to bring the whole college basketball world to its knees, then didn't do **** except punish the aspiring agent and couple others.

I did. Thoughts:

1. I had no idea how young Dawkins was. Incredible how far he climbed so young and how much foresight he had.
2. He is very believable.
3. The doc was poorly done. Its interesting because they take you through the setup/sting. But they spend way too much time planting the idea that the crime was paying
coaches as public officials (which Dawkins didnt really do and thought was stupid/unnecessary) and then they blew threw the actual convictions/bruce bowen story in a rushed fashion and then just threw the wade and miller tapes in at the end for splash which revealed nothing new. I followed this a little and was still confused.
4. The FBI looks really bad.
5. Because no one else would talk its a one sided story. Basically dawkins, his parents, his attorney and some Dan Wetzel.
