With all the 5 star players we have coming in plus the talent we have coming back it's easy to believe we should win the natty . Let's be careful not to get full of ourselves. Talk of 40-0 is really stupid. There are many teams that are on our schedule that can and some will beat us. The best way I think we should look into this season is we have a heck of a team and should make a definite run to the final four. Lot's of things can happen and last year is a prime example of it. I believe as always feel we can win the natty and even more this year. We have the G.O.A.T. and an excellent staff as well as that very talented roster. I know we will have the recliner coaches questioning Coach K's once again but put me on that Duke bench and I'm lost so I am going to try hard this year just to trust the coaching staff to lead this team. I won't even complain about not getting off a shot clock when we go into stall ball. Looking forward to one great season . We need on with all the tragedy and crap going on this off season in this country. It's great therapy as is this board. OFC

I think I'll go into this year with very low expectations.. Half our team will be injured most of the year.. There will be drama surrounding Grayson.. Our coach will have to battle through some type of distraction.. We will get bounced in the first weekend of the tourney.. Hoping I'm wrong on every bit of this but that's what my expectations will be to avoid a letdown like last year lol!
Agreed. I think we have a GREAT shot to win a national championship....I also think we absolutely will NOT go undefeated.
I agree with most everything Sky said. However if a healthy Duke team gets shot down prior to the Final Four after the disappointment of last year, expect lots of 2nd guessers here. OFC
I go into every season with great expectations but do not consider not winning the NC as a failed season.For me the pleasure that I get watching them throughout the season negates all the pain of losing our last game.
I haven't heard anyone predicting 40-0, anywhere. That's simply moronic. I, much like Topps, have high expectations as a fan. I also try and remember that it's college basketball and anything can happen. Here was high expectations last year, rightfully so- for the zillionth time you couldn't have predicted what would have happened to that team, the injuries, the Grayson world wide catastrophe, coach being out, etc. **** happens. But as our coach says, next play. What happened last year has zero bearing on me as a fan towards my expectations this year. We have a ton of talent. Hopefully that talent meshes together. Hopefully Bagely, gets cleared soon so he doesn't start behind the 8-ball. Hopefully we avoid the injury plague we had last year. And god forbid we don't make it to the final four, I'll be disappointed just like I am every year, but I'm still able to find satisfaction and enjoyment out of the teams accomplishments. Last year gave us an unreal never before seen run to win the ACCT which we hadn't done in a while. I wish that was appreciated more. We got a ****** draw in the tourney and we didn't respond, that's college hoops. Go Duke!
I go into each season with high hopes, but I don't expect to contend for the national title every year. I try to keep it realistic. An example is the 15-16 team. Losing Amile was huge, but I don't think they were title hunters with him. The 13-14 team was even worse, so to me it's more disappointing when our talent is slack, and it's frustrating in my mind when DUKE doesn't have a really good point guard, and a good inside presence.
This team coming up has the target on their back, and it's possible that getting to the final 4 may not be good enough. I'm expecting this team to be title hunting, and I will be disappointed in K if we don't do well. Yes he's the best, but still makes a few mistakes, and it doesn't make someone a bad fan to second guess him, as long as it's not done after every loss but when done, it's being respectful towards him. I think K did as good with the 15-16 team as he did with the title 14-15 team. No matter what though, I'll be there watching every game I can. To have a great season the team needs to mesh on both ends of the court. With lots of young players that is the glaring question.
If we go to work on defense, we'll be a force all year. It will make scoring look easy.
This holds the key IMO...Duke D of the past, coupled w/all the natural talent on this team could be the gateway to #6! OFC
