Sounds like Joshua Jones, a WR prospect, did make it to a visit this weekend and we are in good position with him.

Sounds like Jurgens is going to play on the defensive side.

McGriff is viewed as a potential NFL level TE by the staff. Hence why he was one of the offers from the UCF commit list.

Don't know if we are going to flip the in-state DT.

Good news all around. McGriff is that hybrid TE/WR that Frost’s offense needs. Will allow us to switch formations without subbing. Also need some RB/WR like Fleeks. Plus I think Jurgens will be a beast on the defensive side of the ball.

Seems like we almost have too many tight ends on the roster, especially for Frost's offense. We have Stoll, Engelhaupt, and Snyder, and added Austin Allen and Rafdal last year. We'll have more scholarship TEs returning than WRs.

Thank god on Jurgens. NU just got better. He’d make a good TE, don’t get me wrong but he’ll make a better DE.
Thinking about Jurgens, Stille and the Davis twins leading the D-Line in a year or two could mean some nice sack #s and lots of attacking and blitzing. Those 4 are really strong guys.

They need to get even more athletic. This roster still needs the long freakish edge rushers.

Do we know how Jurgens will recover from his injury? Sounds like he may miss basketball and track.

I see schools like Iowa convert TE's to great OT's on occasion. Maybe we have a TE who could become a OT?

TE will be interesting to watch. We have a bunch of TE's on the roster, but I'm not sure any are the hybrid TE/WR that Frost wants. I think both McGriff and McDonald fit the mold and so does the JUCO Anderson. If we take multiple TE's this cycle, it would surely mean some of our current TE's will move on.

Maybe the question with Jurgens is whether he actually wants to play on the defensive side. Hopefully it won't end up like it did with Fant.

We've got some young studs at TE. Frost can use them in his offense. People think Frost's offense is static and it's not. He can and will adapt what he's doing to utilize the tools he has. IF he has good TEs and plenty of them I won't be surprised at all to see him use 2 tight end sets more etc. You don't always have to be able to run by guys in order to spread people out and create mismatches.

Won't Jurgens be an OLB rather than a DE in the 3-4 Defense?
probably. Kind of depends on how he grows up. He could still end up being a TE. IF he wants to make some big money some day he should at least consider trying to make himself a left tackle. It is one of the 3 hardest positions for the NFL to find. Riley Reiff out of South Dakota was recruited as a 4-3 DE/TE out of high school. Ferentz made him an OT and now he's making a bazillion/year starting at LT for the Vikings. Unfortunately out with an ankle injury right now. Another kid I know of played TE in high school, walked on at SDakSU and has started for them at RT and LT. I won't be surprised if he eventually ends up getting drafted when he's done with college. He went from 6-6 220 to 305. He was a good basketball player with pretty good feet who have just been at best an average TE .

You're not wrong Dingle, but I just hope we're balancing NFL positional fit against "what we need to win right now at dear old NU". It's not like an exceptional left tackle wouldn't come in handy (what wouldn't). But it's been a long time since we've been able to field a nasty defense. I'm no expert but just eating popcorn and watching Cam play high school sports, he is one explosive athlete. When I look at his build the last thing I think is "tackle". Linebacker or DE is what I think. Anyway, forget the NFL, his injury is killing the Beatrice basketball team this season!

ThebOrangemen will survive a bad or off season in basketball. Cam needs to focus on getting ready for football coming up anyways. Us Beatrice boys know Cam won’t end up anywhere else other then the Huskers...unless he’s told something he absolutely doesn’t want to hear. And I agree, he will never be a “tackle” my guess is we are looking at a good OLB for the 3-4.

I've seen this kid play, but I don't pretend to know more than the coaches. Jurgens is a large, physical kid with good hands and very good speed for his size. Very explosive, but he doesn't strike me as having great lateral movement so that is why I've wondered why people have him pegged as an outside linebacker. I'd like to see grow to a defensive end or large tight end.

McGriff just decomitted from UCF....

Yet still plans to officially visit UCF this weekend.

This could make things even more awkward down in Orlando this week. You have our staff down there coaching UCF, you have the new staff there recruiting, both going after the same recruit in this situation.

Wow we definitely have different views of our boy Cam. I see him differently then you. But that’s not the first or last time that will happen. By no means am I pegging him at any position. It’s just my guess. None of us know what our S&C will do with Cam when he gets there, so we have no true idea if he will be a TE/MLB/OLB/DE (but we all know he could do any of them). Now which one, it is all guesses until we see what direction the S&C does with him under Frost guide.
