Jackson graduated from Mesa in May and would be immediately eligible for Nebraska.
Mesa defensive coordinator Chenelle Jones said Jackson is a "legit" 6-foot-3 and 192 pounds. He runs a "legit" 4.5-second 40-yard dash.
"He plays great press coverage," Jones said. "He's a big presence when he walks up on that line."

Looks like he was initially a Kentucky recruit a few years back...definitely a position of need

I’m assuming this is the kid we got? I couldn’t find his juco ranking. But I did find his high school one.

Out of high school the kid was definitely under the radar but so what. If our coaches like the kid and at the very worst can add depth to our CB position, then great. We are definitely adding some height to CB, that’s for sure.

Great signing but this really underscores how lacking we were/are in depth across the board. Glad Frost and team are making the moves to correct the problem NOW vs. a few years down the road. It also appears they are quickly getting rid of dead weight and guys who probably weren't going to buy in. We already went through that recently and I don't want to live it again.

Frost gets it. He understands that in today's college football you have to make a splash in your first three years (or sooner), or you become yesterday's news. Yes, yes, yes, he will have the patience of Husker fans. That is not my point. My point is that Frost is a topic of conversation right now and everyone will be looking to see how he does, especially in years two and three. He needs to win games in order to keep that national mojo going.

Do we know why he was dismissed from Kentucky?

No, but I read that for a dismissal and for the program not to talk about it, it was probably repeated policy violations. To me that says puff puff pass or juicing. Either way, *shrug.*

I was just about to post something similar. It's so refreshing that amateur hour is finally over and Frost is willing/able to plug holes immediately. But roster mismanagement led to this situation in the first place. It will be great when we get to a point where we don't have to take a flyer on under-the-radar JUCO guys less than three months before the first kickoff.

For now though, given the situation he inherited, I say bravo. These guys are relentless in improving the roster via all available means.

He redshirted first, left Kentucky, then sat out a whole year from football then went to juco.

Based on the "five-year clock" definition below, you can't take a year off school and/or a sport to preserve a year of eligibility. You'd have to apply for a 6th year but I doubt he's eligible to do that. Unless there's another detail not being discussed here, it appears he's a 2 for 2 guy.

Per the NCAA...

Division I five-year clock: If you play at a Division I school, you have five calendar years in which to play four seasons of competition. Your five-year clock starts when you enroll as a full-time student at any college. Thereafter, your clock continues, even if you spend an academic year in residence as a result of transferring; decide to red shirt, if you do not attend school or even if you go part-time during your college career.

Frost is going absolutely apeshit combing the Juco ranks right now, I love it!

Savant. He's re-writing a playbook for recruiting to Nebraska right now.

The guy will do what it takes to win, and if it means a huge walk-on program (can't hurt?), combing the Juco ranks (why not?) or signing transfers, he will do it.

Agree, and Nebraska has given away the "right" to 9 win seasons. The talent is in the dumps compared to nationally ranked teams, and we have no identity.

Literally this guy is trying to bring Nebraska back from the brink.

So Jackson was a plan B? If so, he’s not a bad plan B
