I doubt that applies to assistants. Nor will it remain in place for head coaches much longer.

The bylaws also required that the president of the university is not a layman , but we’ve made exceptions there too.
Basically every accredited educational higher ed institution seeks this requirement.
If the players can sue and get anything they want I’m sure the right coach could as well. Say LeBron wants to coach Akron or Howard University 2 years from now. The NCAA would shrug their shoulders and say go to class for 4 years first?
