He signed a $117 million dollar extension last season with the Knicks. I’d bet they wish they had a do over on that one. He’s looked God awful for awhile now. Looks completely lost tonight. Big contracts are nice but sometimes they cause you to lose that 👁 of the 🐅

Not too far off. Just 5 off his last year's average with slightly less than half the the season left. He can finish strong

I've been saying this all season long, unfortunately this happens a lot in professional sports, he looks checked out most games, the same happened to Wall, Cousins and others. Imagine the life these guys have at home, it's unimaginable for the every day person, they make more in a year than vast majority of people will make during their entire lifetime. That level of success takes away a lot of players drive moving forward, that's why the greats, never changed no matter what, Kobe played like it was his last game every time on the floor and was worth $600m, same for Jordan and other HOFers.

Hated Kobe Bryant as a player and when I was younger. But now I’ve got more respect for him than just about any NBA player ever. The guy was unique, he was a killer, and he didn’t care how much was in the bank. That’s the difference in Kobe and a lot of guys. And listen to a lot of fans, they’re the same way too. All about money, toys, and freedom. I’m the opposite. I work everyday on my sht and grind no matter what I’ve got. And it’s funny because on a smaller scale, most people I’m around don’t understand me. You hear that a lot from your widely successful people. Just last week my mother in law was telling me I’ve done well and it’s time to settle down. So I decided to run in 40 degree temperature and rain 😃

If you’re a beast you can’t turn it off. I’m not a beast but damn I want to be one.

Love this story, I go rucking all the time out where I'm at, the other day it was 20 degrees out, I'm in my 50s though I'm out there grinding for five miles in the hills with my 50lb ruck on! I do 200 pushups every day, no matter how crappy or worn down I feel, I'll get them done or die trying...

The Knicks really overachieved last year. I dont think anyone thought they were truly the 4th best team in the East, but it was a fun story and the fans loved it.

And that wasn't just Randle, it was all of them.

Randle just isn't a #1 option. And idk if anyone on that team is currently a #2 option to be with him. RJ Barret isn't there yet. PGs that will be out of the league soon, either due to age or skill. Bad drafts with guys like Toppin, Knox, and Frank Ntil-whatever.

They do have a lot of draft capital coming up, but would have been nice to pair it with a playoff team, not the 11th seed.

I also don't think it's fair to put this all on Randle either. This roster as a whole isn't what we thought. The problem is they are starting to sour and the Knicks desperately needed a repeat of last year... which is to say a gritty, hard playing team that was having an exciting run... to finally attract Free Agency talent.

One season wasn't gonna do it, plus this off seasons FA class was bunk.. needed another strong showing this year to finally say "The Knicks are back!" And get some real talent to join.

I love our fans that never watch the NBA because it sucks, but have opinions about the NBA, because it sucks.

A big part of last year was the play of Derick Rose. He's been out for most of the year. He was every bit as crucial to their success last year as anyone not named Randal. Probably Thier second best player and definitely Thier second most consistent. He's due back soon. Randal can't do it by himself. They brought in a broken down Kemba Walker to start at point guard. Different year but same old Knick mismanagement.

This makes a lot of sense. Tennessee Williams said once he made it big he could never again write like when he was lean and hungry, when it was him against the world. And he sure as shooting never made basketball money.

Wall's total salary so far: $188,293,585 (https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/w/walljo01.html#all_all_salaries)

Cousin's total salary so far: $91,075,333 (https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/c/couside01.html#all_all_salaries)

Randle's total salary so far: $59,086,962 (https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/r/randlju01.html#all_all_salaries)

Average American income: $67,521

If the Average American worked for thirty years at $67521, they would make $2,025,630

John Wall earned $2,025,630 in 6.59 games (he has played 613 career games)

Demarcus Cousins earned $2,025,630 in 13.9 games (he has played 626 career games)

Julius Randle earned $2,025,630 in 16.9 games (he has played 493 career games)

They make more money in 1/5 of a season than the average American makes in thirty years. It's truly staggering how much money these guys make. .

On a side note: John Wall has earned more money on a per game basis (salary only) than Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan, Shaquille O'Neal, Kevin Durant, LeBron James, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Steph Curry, etc.

I'm looking and looking, and John Wall might be the highest paid per game player in NBA history at $307,167 per game. This is all from basketball-reference.com.

If you can find an NBA player who has made more than John Wall per game, let me know.

That’s the problem. It’s harder to maintain the same hunger, drive and focus once you land that “guaranteed lifetime of good life” contract. It’s human nature to ease up once you no longer have the worries.

Some say that applies to coaches too.

JHC, it’s something to see it laid out like this, given the money Wall is arguably a bust, from a sheer reward vs return perspective.
