This one goes out to my rescue cat I had to put down yesterday after over 19 years together. RIP Lilly. And thanks for everything.
So sorry to hear about Lilly, MtNitt. They’re special creatures.
Kitten photo right after adoption got her on the siameserescue.org calendar. I occasionally called her Miss February up until yesterday morning.
These guys know all about being on the streets and maybe winding up in a shelter...
Friday (8/8) is the birthday of Jay David. He was not a founding member of Dr. Hook & the Medicine Show, but was the drummer during their period of greatest commercial success. To celebrate (I think that's him in the video -- it's from just around the time that he left the group):

Saturday (8/9) was the birthday of the late, great, Billy Henderson. He was a founding member, while in high school, of The Domingos. He remained with the group when they were renamed The Spinners. He was known for his dancing, and animated presence during concerts, but was also the only member of the founding five that never sang lead vocals. To celebrate (he's 2nd from the left):
Saturday (8/9) was the birthday of the late, great, Wanda Young. She was not an original member of the Casinyets, or the group when they changed their name to the Marvels. However, she joined the band just about the time they signed a record deal with Motown, at which time their name was changed to the Marvelettes. She became the lead singer of the group after 1965. To celebrate, 1st, a hit of theirs where she sang lead, and also their first hit:
Saturday (8/9) is the birthday of Marinus "Rinus" Gerritsen. He was a co-founder, and the bassist, of the Tornados, which laster changed their name to the Golden Earrings. To celebrate, their biggest hit:
