This staff is so aggressive and relentless. It's apparent that program building is going strong... feeling so confident that we found the right coach and staff and look forward to see us knocking off BIG teams at the RAC! Payback time for us is on the horizon!

Our last two JUCO big men were Sa and Freeman, we seem to do well when we go down that path.

Watched the vid also....looks really good..would be nice addition to replace Sa
The best part of the video is this recruits ability to finish around the basket which is a skillset missing from many inside players.

I . My bigger pet peeve is a fellow employee who has no sense of urgency. Pikell and friends will never be accused of that. These boys hustle. Hustle with a plan

Eddie being example #1 - was unreal how another Rutgers head coach basically offered up how little urgency Eddie had.

When we were searching for a coach, there was endless bitching and moaning about how we would never be able to recruit because of facilities, history, etc

Competence plus hustle overcomes a lot of obstacles

I hope Pike is here for a long long time. I have complete confidence in his ability

But at least Pike can sell that the practice facility coming.

This guys ...as I said in the round table ...walks in and is a double digit scorer for two years st the power forward spit when Freeman finished

While I think Freeman gets a 13-14 a game....this guy will be a 11/8 type guy with more size and bulk

A big big get for the next two years if we land him

Freeman struggles scoring around the rim against upper level teams. This kid won't so much.

Hope his visit today is a success...would be nice addition after Sa graduates and provide a strong rebounder to frontline. I'm not sure if he can commit until we open up another schollie.

A minimum of 2 'ships may be available next season. Sanders will likely not stay for his senior year, and Doorson may graduate after this year and move on.

Take both Carter and Washington.

^^agreed.

Doorson is one injury from being done for good.

Corey wants the $ and notoriety immediately, no shot he comes back. I wish he would as a fringe guy. Overseas can be profitable but always nice to fall on having a degree.

Isn't this a hard sell? No real spot can be said will be open for sure, correct?

Not a hard sell at all, teams/coaches do this each and every year elsewhere, it's just new territory for RU....get Carter (and potentially Washington) on board and let them know that signing in the spring (unless something happens sooner with the roster) is what we are working towards....it certainly beats scrambling for starting caliber players in late April/early May, trying to disguise what is likely to happen.

This is not to say that anyone is being forced out, but the odds of Doorson becoming healthy enough to play 20 minutes a game, Sanders suddenly buying into the thought of being a 4 year college player after testing the waters the last 2 years and avoiding the inevitable one transfer out that happens at the end of every year is highly, highly unlikely.....

It's possible that we could still be a player short next spring, even if we somehow secured commitments from both Carter and Washington....that's not speculation or anything about any one player, but we were 3 months removed from a situation where Sanders could have still decided to play overseas and being forced to add another starting caliber player in June or figuring something else out.

Carter is a hard-working talented big that can score in traffic and around the basket. I can see him being the bridge between Doucoure and Myles Johnson developing....Washington would be the icing on the cake since I view Carter and Washington as Top 150 type of talents.

It is listed he wants to commit earlier than that, though. I do not like to try to predict what will happen to Doorson. I am just saying, if a roster has an open spot right now at another school, you would think the player would be more interested in that school.

Shaq is a great player. He would be out of his mind to not come to RU. Just thinking about the situation. I know coaches do it all the time. I am trying to think from a players standpoint.

Legally, could the players sign today even without spots open?I would think not. I am not sure about the logistics.

From what I understand, a team can sign as many players as they want. The key is to be at 13 scholarships when the school year starts.

From the "Oversigning" wikipedia page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oversigning:

In the 2011 offseason, the University of Louisville men's basketball team found itself with a roster of 18 players—five more than the NCAA limit of 13 scholarship players for that sport.[7] In the 2010–11 season, the Cardinals had a 15-man roster, but two of these players were walk-ons, placing them within NCAA limits. Three scholarship players departed after the season, but coach Rick Pitino had initially signed a four-player freshman class, resulting in 14 scholarship players plus the two returning walk-ons. Then, coaching changes gave Pitino the opportunity to add a fifth freshman, former Tennessee commit Kevin Ware, and a future upperclass contributor, George Mason transfer Luke Hancock. These signings gave the Cardinals 16 scholarship players.[8]

The situation was resolved when three returning scholarship players agreed to become walk-ons for the 2011–12 season. All had originally come to Louisville as walk-ons, but had earned scholarships.[8] What made this situation especially unusual is that two of the three were seniors who were expected to start in the coming season. One of the senior walk-ons, Kyle Kuric, was the Cardinals' only returning double-figure scorer.[9] The other senior walk-on, Chris Smith, was the Cardinals' third-leading returning scorer.[10] Both were financially able to absorb being walk-ons—Kuric's parents are a neurosurgeon and a nurse practitioner, and Smith is the younger brother of NBA player J. R. Smith, who had paid his brother's way at U of L when he had to sit out the 2009–10 season as a transfer.[8]

The term great players is used rather broadly by fans. Schools like Duke and Kentucky surely have great players based on their national ranking and draft status.Shaq on the other hand has experienced health issues for most of his college career which has hindered his athletic development.

Trying to keep it positive. Not need to harshly critique a 18 year old, especially since i have nothing to do with their development. I think he can become a decent player for RU. He has versatility, just like every other Pikiell recruit. I have no problem seeing two forwards in the front court.
