How is it legal to report a kids grades in a class that is supposed to be a private matter? Sean is either full of ****,(likely) or has an inside source that knows the kids grade, reported the kids grade to a journalist for some reason. I guess it is possible that a kids trying to leverage multiple colleges just so happened to tell Sean about failing a class and being a risk for not even being eligible, but that doesn't seem likely.
If the kid tells a recruiting site he failed a class I would say it’s fair game. That said, IF I’m that recruiting site worker, I might be reluctant to put it out there without the recruit’s permission.

He wasn't that great anyway and we can probably get a better player, if not in this portal then in next year's. Plus our DTs that we already have are really pretty good, they were just young last year.

Am I doing it right?
