JT Daniels

Our secondary definitely had several bad moments on deep balls, but after watching again, JT Daniels and their receivers had a lot to do with that. We busted coverage some, but on some of these throws, they are just perfectly placed balls.

On their first TD at 1:08, he rolls right and made a perfect throw. Forbes had decent coverage but not much he could do.

At 1:30, we jump and give them a free play. Burton burned our safety, so that was bad coverage.

At 2:03, coverage was really not that bad. Guidry was there and contested, but it was just a great throw.

At 2:44, our safety let a receiver run free behind him. Bad coverage.

At 3:38, Burton did have a step on Forbes, but it was also a perfect deep ball. Not good coverage but he wasn’t really wide open either.

At 4:54, just a big time throw. Coverage was actually really good, but there’s nothing we really could have done.

At 5:08 and 5:22, Emerson makes a couple of good plays on the ball in the end zone. In the second play, Daniels does a great job avoiding our rush. Good throws, but we had better coverage.

Then at 5:58 we just get burned.

Looking back, I would not say we played well, but you have to give Daniels, Pickens, and Burton a lot of credit. Daniels was the top QB in the country coming out, Pickens was a five star, and Burton was a top 100 player. Those guys are good, and it’s dumb to compare their passing game with Bennett to their passing game with Daniels. UGA isn’t as dangerous as OM through the air, but it’s closer than I originally thought.

One positive I will say is we do not give up much YAC. Our DBs tackle really well. We just let people get behind us some.

When the broadcast team would talk about Corey Broomfield and how good he was at tackling. They left out the fact that the man he was covering was always open, thus so many opportunities for tackles.

Bo Bounds likes to rail on Georgia for not "opening up the offense" but truth be known they just haven't had a QB who could, so far this year. They had Fromm the past 3 years and they were damn close to a national title, yeah he's conservative but damn he was right there. Now watch what happens once this Daniels guy gets going.

Opening up the offense, or modernizing the offense, is just a talking head's fancy way of saying 'throw the ball'. The problem is you have to have guys who can. I guess you could pin the loss of Justin Fields on Smart, as he didn't let him play like Saban did with Hurts/Tua, but that's about it. To think Smart is going to fade away is asinine.

In this age of offensive football, you can’t really do much to stop some of the short passes. You just have to rally to the ball and not let a 4 yard gain turn into a 40 yard gain.

We do that really well.

I remember when we had a QB that was dropping dimes, setting records, and a Heisman contender after his first SEC game

Do Georgia fans like Monken running the offense?

Not sure if Monken has had the qb to run his offense most of the year, but wondered if Georgia fans are liking the job he has done so far.

Not really, but they are optimistic about Daniels. They are trashing their defense this week.
