JSU is putting together a pretty good transfer class.

Well it is Deion. He is on TV selling subs and on the front page of the Clarion Ledger sports page every day. Publicity helps

I’m guessing being able to play this spring has some to do with it. Wouldn’t be shocked to see some of these same guys transfer back to bigger problems in the fall.

I am in total wait-and-see mode on Neon. I can see this going so many different ways. In a way, it will certainly shine a light on whether or not coaching a sport is an actual skill or how much of it is luck and/or simply recrootin. But you can't say it's ALL recrootin, because who knows what type of players these guys really are. Does he have the organizational skills to run a program, because it's not like he's done this before. Does he hire that out and just do the CEO part - because that's obviously his strength. I mean the guy was coaching high school ball last year - but honestly Malzahn was doing the same sort of thing so who really knows. Does he try and an micromanage the Xs and Os? As a former player, does he actually know something about Xs and Os?

I can't seem to find his head coaching record. I know he was 42-3 as an OC but was he just riding his kid to success i.e. simply a daddy ball coach? Seems like his time at Prime Prep, that he founded, was a trainwreck. Just hard to know.

Any FBS program that has scheduled JSU as an auto-win has to be regretting that decision right now.

Need I remind anyone here that the 2018 MSU team was loaded and had in inexperienced former coordinator move into the head position and in 2 years he was history and the program set back 5-10 years in just 2? It matters not if Deon has a roster full of former transfers if he and staff can't put together a game plan, motivate, strengthen, and organize a team. That program has been a train wreck, it has been through 6 coaches in 17 years, 4 in the last 6 years alone. They have so many fractured factions in their fanbase that can't agree on anything. If he manages to pull that fanbase together and win some games then he deserves some kudos but I'm not holding my breath based on their past and his of running of a high school and team.

Yeah. Not even close to being sold on him as a coach. One thing working in his favor though is it is the SWAC. The league that made Jay Hopson look like a great coach.

There's a reason these guys are transferring to Jackson St. And it's not because they can play in the SEC.

I think Deon is smart enough to know to turn play calling over to someone else and just be the Head Coach. Moorhead could not do both.

And on the couple of ads I've seen with him he does a good job. Pretty funny, and much better than Peyton, Saban, and Deshawn (rolling along in the big tractor tire - stupid ad).
