I know this doesn't have to do with Kentucky, but I found it interesting that Jerry Meyer just tweeted that Josh Jackson may commit tonight. This is after Kansas received the last few picks in his crystal ball. If his does commit to KU tonight, next season could be like last season as far as having 4-5 elite teams in college basketball. It would hype up the (possible) game between UK and KU next season even more.

KU is going to be crazy good next year. All they lose is Ellis.

If they get Jackson and Maker they are probably #2 behind Duke

If they landed Jackson and Maker, their starting lineup might even be more unpredictable than Kentucky's. Plus, add in Diallo and Selden possibly returning.

Self still hasn't shown he knows how to handle the different personalities and talents of young players. Not one and done's because there hasn't been the first year improvement that should be demonstrated.

If Jackson and Maker go to Kansas, will Self even play them? Self is a great coach, but that's just about the last program a hopeful one-and-done should attend. And if I were Diallo and Bragg, there's no way in he// I would return to that school.

The rumor from MSU fans is that Jackson's mom wants KU, but he wants MSU. No idea if it's true or not, of course, but funny reading that after it was said his mom shut down Calipari from recruiting him.

I assume Jackson would play, like Wiggins did. Hard to keep him off the floor.

Dude is ultra talented, but damn, his behavior on the court is little much for me. Slamming a ball into another's guys chest, non stop talking....he just looks like a a lot of trouble! I know all Alpha dogs have a swagger, but not a big fan of his.

Well, he might, but I thought the same thing with Top 5 recruit Cliff Alexander. Then I thought the same thing the next year with Top 5 recruit Cheick (sp?) Diallo. And I thought the same thing a few years prior with Top 5 recruit Josh Selby. And I thought the same thing last year with Top 25 recruit Carlton Bragg. And I thought the same thing the past two years with projected First Round pick Svi Micwhatshisname.

I honestly think it's a valid question as to whether or not Jackson will see substantial playing time.

Selden and Diallo are projected as early 2nd round picks also. Not sure if Selden should return another year as it may be tough for his stock to improve with what should be a really good guard draft class next year.

Soooooo much is up in the air with KU....Ellis, Mickelson, and Traylor graduate. Diallo, Mason, and Seldon all want to jump after this year but will they pull the trigger? Could Bragg get a first round guarantee from a team after working out at the draft combine? Will Greene stay for his last year after fighting will Self this year over Playing Time and being suspended multiple times in his career. We can speculate but their roster could be in flux just as much as UK's this offseason.

Meh. Let's not get our panties in a twist, gentlemen. The idea that Maker and Jackson make Kansas the #2 team in the nation is based on what, exactly - all of their guys returning and all of their freshmen contributing? Maker will be good for about 6 and 4 next season, because he's coming off the bench. Diallo and Bragg would be their starting 5/4. Jackson is legit, but we're also assuming Kansas returns Selden. I don't think Wayne is coming back.

Lots can happen to their roster, and lots will happen to their roster.

But that doesn't help the "panic at first site" mantra that some of our fans cling to. Kansas returns everyone while we look for reasons for every marginal prospect at UK guy to bolt early.

It's comical.

Why are you assuming all they lose is Ellis? They've got another 3-5 guys who are fringe NBA-guys. All it takes is a decision for some of these kids to decide they're gone.

If Diallo, Mason, or Selden don't go pro than KU needs to be investigated.

But he probably will return, so it doesn't matter. Other schools don't have draft picks as their main goal.

Yes I'm a bitter prick right now, just don't pay attention.

Mason is not an NBA player. Selden should absolutely go, he will play in the NBA for a long time. As for Diallo, Self did what he always planned to do, which was to stash Diallo on the bench all year, a de facto redshirt.

Mason may not be drafted but just like Briscoe he doesn't want to be in college anymore. Some guys hate school and some want to get payed to play even if it is overseas. We all made some impatient decisions at 19-20 so we shouldn't be surprised when young guys make bad decisions.

Remember when KU fans came on here and told us Mason was better than Ulis?

I never said that of course.

As for Diallo, he sucks so I couldn't care less if he bolts. He's an athletic freak but he has no clue what he's doing on he court, where to position himself in an offensive set, or how to pass. Bragg OTOH is the exact opposite and hence a much better college basest all future

Dislike that if it's true. And if it is true, he should say "Sorry to disappoint you, mom, but I'm going to Michigan State because it's my decision and my life."

Well, he might, but I thought the same thing with Top 5 recruit Cliff Alexander.

To be fair to Self, Cliff Alexander was overhyped. He was more of a Perry Ellis/Thomas Robinson type of player who could have stayed in college and become a very good college player with development, but obviously Cliff and his family had different plans.

Yeah, and so was Diallo. And Svi. And Selden had issues. Wiggins worked out, but he was hardly the second coming of Lebron, and he was overhyped too. So what exactly is going on over there?

Starts with the coach not getting the most out of these guys. Same has sorta happened with Roy Williams at Carolina and he's not getting the one and done talent anymore. Hard to believe the last one and done over there was Brandan Wright. Self and KU could face similar issues soon enough.
