I was told before the game that Jaden would get some run if Pike thought he could help get this team to the tournament. Didn’t want to say anything since one of the mods was insistent he wouldn’t play this year. Anyways, happy to see him get into the game hopefully he can get some more minutes throughout the rest of the season.

Do you have any film on his three point shooting? That form was very similar to PM on that shot

just watching him on the court he looks really athletic and would like to see him on the court to see what he can do. I have zero idea why we bring in palmquist instead of Mag or Jones(maybe)

If he can help us win, he plays. If he's not ready, he continues to practice and develop. Only Pike and the staff know if he's ready yet.

Looked a little nervous on that first shot but good to see him get in there maybe he can get a few more minutes vs Northwestern he must be showing something in practice

He looked a lot taller than I had expected. Pike addressed his appearance in the post game presser. Basically reiterated that he has a long way to go still to familiarize himself with the sets , defense , etc

he was only in because the game was over, so the statement about getting to the dance is not really the case today. glad he was in and Mag hit a 3.

This. Kid was tall as hell. He might actually be a legit 6’8. He also looked pretty muscular. That kid has a super high ceiling with that build
Yeah you could tell he is extremely athletic. I say give him a shot to see if he has some offense
In him even if it’s 1:1. We already play that offense now already and Mathis flying to the rim(not getting fouled) doesn’t always help.

and our 21 inbounds plays. I'm sure he has the last shot end of the half offense down though. Dribble around till 4 secs left and either don't get the shot off, turn it over or simply kick it out of bounds.

You forgot the step back fade away three with some one in your face.

One thing I’ve noticed on these boards is that moderators (not the TKR writers) know NOTHiNG more than the posters. They have Zero inside information. They are given a free subscription to premium.

Why would a moderator know more than the average poster? That’s what moderators are.

Not sure you can get much from that cameo appearance last night. More likely that Oskar or Mawot get some real PT than Jaden at this point.

I don't necessarily think it is a Palmquist, Mag or Jones thing....one has now been here almost a full 12 months, another since late summer and a 3rd arrived a month ago. If they're all playing the potential same wing/guard position, one seemingly has the ability to potentially play both guard and forward (Jones really more than Mag) while one is really just a forward, (Palmquist).

I won't be shocked if Jones and Mag both see 1st half action vs Northwestern, if Harper and Mathis continue to struggle to either shoot the ball (Harper) or move the ball faster (Mathis).

Yeah that is the best statement I have ever heard we absolutely run no out of bounds plays other than 4 guys stand on the baseline and you just throw it out to one of them HOPEFULLY!!

We can barely inbound the ball. Ohio st has a kid like Jones who's getting meaningful minutes

I was also told he's the most talented player on the roster.

i think he could be..literally watching him for a few minutes you could see the athleticism. Heart and see though if that translates.
If that form was his shot though I have some concerns

There was a threat a while ago with analysis of his shooting technique. The consensus was it was awkward but it appeared to work for him so roll with it.

Palmquist is supposed to be a shooting specialist yet I haven’t seen him hit a 3 yet and he has missed FTs.

os it just nerves?

He’s basically a two handed set shooter from three point land...like what a middle school kid who’s not strong enough to reach the basket accurately might use. Except, he’s refined it a bit to where he rotates the ball so his “shooting hand” is actually producing almost all of the force and his release is lightning quick with good accuracy. He won’t get off his shot off the dribble against long defenders but if he’s open he looks like he’ll knock it down consistently.

Wow

I just watched that video and think he has a nice pure form and release. Looks unorthodox but it’s not.

first comparable player that came to mind when watching that was Penny Hardaway

Jones has an unorthodox shot but the ball goes in the basket.

Thanks for this video. I'm not a fan of the two handed shot but it works for him, so if he's consistent then don't change a thing. The only thing I worry about is his low release point. Yes he can have screens help him get open or he can get open on the perimeter. I just wonder when the top coaches in the B1G figure him out and get taller players on him. I'm just hoping he makes the adjustments needed. He appears to be a very talented kid and looks every bit of 6'8". I'm psyched to see him play a lot of minutes.

First player I thought of after seeing the Jones video was Walt Frazier. Tall guard, good handle, smooth movements, keeps his left hand on the ball when he shoots.
