The “I’m a mod” flex was pretty funny.
I was gonna take a swipe at that one myself; being a moderator doesn't (and shouldn't) shield you from criticisms and confrontation on this board. But IL-Cat isn't a bad cat, just a smidge misguided on how much his role of moderator should insulate him from the daily barbs and slings from posters.

I understand. But I’m pretty sure that the dude was talking to his closest friends who were about to face serious persecution and hardship, precisely because they chose to follow him and take his message to the world.

I just think a dude suffering on a message board is a little bit different than the suffering that the famous man has in mind.

But hey, if you want to read things totally out of context, go for it. I can do all things through that man who strengthens me, so I’m about to teleport to work instead of drive.
Keep writing. You are about to figure it out. Discernment is everything.

That’s definitely the counterpoint to the rumor. After the Sharpe fiasco, I don’t think a lot of people trust Cal to handle that kind of scenario, and perhaps rightly so. If Wheeler was so upset about playing time that he’d rather just quit, it does seem odd that he’d still want to travel with the team and cheer on the players that he resented taking his spot though.
I realize that most of y'all on this board aren't old enough to remember what was called, back in the early '70s, "Watergate." With that said ... I think the answer to the Wheeler mystery lies in what Deep Throat said to Woodward in the movie All The President's Men -- "Follow the money !" I'll guarantee you there's some money-related issue underlying the fact that Wheeler clearly wasn't going to play again, but nevertheless kept showing up on the bench. I don't know enough about what could be the money aspect of such a thing, but I say, again ... Follow The Money ! ! !

All the signs point to Matt being right.
Senior night was telling.
Very telling when a player can’t come out and be recognized at a school like UK. I was at the game and filmed it on my phone and it was quite embarrassing that Ellen Calipari comes out in a Wheeler jersey. Since Wheeler was the first one I didn’t start filming until after that clown show!

Good lord. Ellen in a friggin Wheeler jersey.

His family likes to poke around with jokes too. They all know he quit and the fans figured it out.

Kid had the privelage of putting a UK jersey on every day, something all of us can only dream of and we would do it without NIL. I really hope he didn’t piss on it.

These kids that Cal gets these days I honestly don’t think they understand what putting a UK jersey on really means. I mean Wallace said it before the season about getting out of here as fast as he can!

Shots fired?
I'm not even biting tonight. Last night was bad for multiple reasons. I'm never in a good mood when UK loses. In fact, if I were to ever do or say something very stupid and regretful, it would most likely come on a day UK loses. But that was yesterday and today was a new day. And hey, UK didn't lose today so it's already a much better day.

And just for the record, I have no delusions of being immune to the normal attacks that happen here just because I'm a moderator. My views are attacked with regularity here. It's the norm. And I will give as good as I get.

Yep she’s the one that came out as Wheeler I thought it was quite a **** show! Just poking at the UK program if you ask me and very disrespectful toward the UK program!
You have wonder how Nick Saban would have handled the Wheeler situation, no wait, I don't have to ...

Wheeler should have been a back up point guard for two seasons. Shame he wasn’t just that. I honestly thought that is what we brought him in to be. I posted two gaMrs into the season LAST YEAR that we would only be able to reach potential with Ty Ty getting early PG minutes, and did the same this season regarding Wallace. Many blasted me. But but but, Wheeler is the SEC assist leader! I have eyes man. I wanted him playing 15-20 per game split if necessary. I think I was right. Easy to see.

If wheeler really quit and was not only allowed to continue sitting on bench, skip senior night, and Cal’s wife wore a wheeler shirt to boot, well…… it’s time for a change
He let Sharpe basically bend him over, that’s nothing for him.

I agree, I think the Wheeler threads and criticism regarding his play were way overdone but you are correct and it’s Cal’s fault how he was used and put in that position in the first place.

So you feel like you should get a pat on the back and a “go get em’ next time” for telling the entire online fanbase that Cal was for sure leaving, that the source of this information was directly from the team and then you following up with multiple detractors by saying “it’s happening” and “let’s revisit this thread after the season” ?

Seriously?? Now you’re a victim??? Just WOW.

But I’m glad you said what you did as that’s one less person to ever take seriously.
Another to add to the ignore collection. Good job belly

Posters cried because Wheeler played too much, then they cried because he didn't play enough, and now they are crying because he quit. What difference does it matter whether he quit or not? You quit on him and he quit on you so it appears to be even. According to many of you, the team was better without him, so you should be thankful that he didn't play anymore.

I’m really not sure what your deal is with the wheeler thing. The majority of us just wanted him to play LESS, not NONE. You really dug your heels in on this one, though. First we were all crazy for thinking it was anything but an injury, now it’s our fault he quit? What in the world?

Well, you don't always get what you want in life. Wheeler just wanted a fanbase who appreciated his hard work, but he didn't get it. He didn't get what he wanted and you didn't get what you wanted. Life goes on, so why don't you.

Maybe you would be better served by trying to understand your deal with Wheeler before worrying about others. I have no idea if Wheeler did or didn't quit. However, if he did, I can certainly understand why. If you stop posting about Wheeler, I will too.

Well, I’ve never started a thread about the guy. But I will keep participating in the discussions as long as they’re active. I just can’t figure out your angle here. It’s weird.

Thank you for sharing that. It helps sometimes to hear what other people go through...kinda like "misery loves company" kinda thing.🥴🙂
You're right about what money can do to people. I just shake my head sometimes.
Wife’s mom died she had a Will and a brother. Went thru probate did it ourself no problem. Maybe because her brother and her agreed on everything it really was easy. Out almost no money for everything.

I feel exactly the same way you do. I think it is extremely weird that fans turned their backs on a player who was only doing what his coach asked him to do. If you had issues with what he was doing, they should have been taken up with the man who provided him instructions on what and how to do it. As you stated, I will not initiate a thread about him, but I will certainly participate in those started by others.

My biggest issue, as most all of us here has been, is exactly what you’re saying. It’s how Wheeler was being used. So yes my problem was with the man in charge and not Wheeler himself. From what I can tell the majority of us preferred Wheeler be used in a diminished role, not kicked off the team or quit.

Wheeler should of played about maybe 10 minutes a game. He kinda worried me when he came into the game. The last few game he couldn’t even hit that “layup” shot he took. I liked his energy but we couldn’t win with him playing a lot. Didn’t bother me any that he didn’t play late in the year. NO WAY he comes back for another year. GL to him where ever he ends up.

What was it I said about wheeler? A lot of folks didn’t like it. But I believe it’s true.

Wheeler is the most hated PG to play here since Saul.

I’d love the truth. I don’t know if we will ever get it. But nothing will ever make senior night make sense.

I don’t think there was much love for Askew. Saul played way more than he should have. I think I would take Saul over Wheeler!!

The people paying the Nil should insist Cal is fired for fraud if that turns out to be true. Some would say he was an accomplice in stealing NIL by a player that never intended to play after Jan but still accepted NIL money.

That's great that everything was really easy. I'm an only child and the only beneficiary, but I had some cousins that started hounding me about some of mom's things, asking if I was going to get rid of anything, etc. They couldn't even wait a month after she was gone. I was still devastated at losing her. But probate was easy and like your wife, out almost no money. Thank you for sharing with me. I appreciate that. I hope your wife is doing okay.

Well, what's going to happen is these players are going to burn bridges with the people that are paying big bucks.

I know if I was the one that fronted NIL money to Sharpe, I would never pay out again as long as Cal is here. I'd call Cal and tell him to lose my number.

Heck, why would I pay any of these kids after what we have seen the last 3 years? That's just throwing money away.
