I'm going to preface this by saying I know the show is about dragons and a dead army. With that in mind, there was so many unbelievable things/cop outs in this episode. It was a good episode but my god how many times are people going to get saved just in the nick of time?

I guess all 3 dragons simultaneously roasting the Night King would've been too easy. Poor Viserion, he deserved better.

Agreed. The writing is getting a little sloppy. First of all, grabbing a walker and bringing it to cersei is such a stupid plan. Then they didn't even bring tons of dragonglass. And just when you think Arya is the baddest mofo on the planet, she gets easily played by Littlefinger. And travel has become a lot more efficient this season.

What does daenerys say to John in the second to last scene.

She says something and he says "you do".

She tells him, "I hope I deserve it." Or at least something close to that. Every now and then on GOT, the dialogue becomes damn near impossible to make out.

There's 7 episodes left. I think the pacing is great, it's just not as slow as the previous seasons. Do you really want them to drudge through story lines like they did in season 4 and 5?

It takes GRRM 8 years to write a book and you expect the same development from two guys who aren't writers to do the same in less than a year?

Btw, aT360... I think your theory is right. Listen to Tyrions speech last night to Dany about succession. He's totally about to introduce the idea of a republic. Everybody's about to get a participation trophy.

Also there's a wild theory out there about Bran and the Night King...

I don't know how that would work but it's gonna be a long wait til 2019 to find out.

Why doesn't Bran just go back in time and kill the Night King while he's on the crapper or something?

Sloppy? This is the best season so far. Ok what would you do differently? Yours might be better. George RR Martin's plot isn't the best. His characters are great and the world he created is great. I disagree with getting easily played by Littlefinger. That's what they want you to think. Mark my words... Littlefinger dies by Arya in the finale. That's my prediction.
Littlefinger and Fat Varys have lasted way too long. That's where Martin's plot loses me among other things.

I think it's possible to think last night's episode was good while still having issues with some narrative flaws. That's the boat I'm in, at least.

This episode reminded me of Watchers on the Wall from Season 4. Great from a visual and action standpoint, but not quite as good at storytelling as the show's best episodes. I personally liked one or two episodes this season better.

They do have a limited amount of time to finish this thing, so I understand moving at a quicker pace. But I do think this season only having seven episodes is hurting it a bit. Still great television, and the best the show has been in about three years. And I think the final seven episodes are going to be fantastic.

Maybe I'm being optimistic but I think Arya has LF exactly where she wants him and is letting him believe she's being played. We'll see

Arya dies while she has on Sansas face. It will be set up by Littlefinger and Sansa will witness this murder showing Littlefinger to be the little ***** he is and then she will have him fed to Ramsay Bolton's dogs

It was. People complaining about the pacing are the same people that complain about cops not having to reload in movies.

It was. No question. I'd like to know a better episode than battle of the bastards and this past Episode from seasons 1-5. Hardhome was the gold standard from those first 5 seasons. There have been 4 episodes match Hardhome in ratings in seasons 6 & 7 since they got past Martin's books. I don't see where the writers are lost without Martin talk comes from. The show has improved.

Wouldn't she have to kill Sansa to get her face? I wasn't sure where we landed on that.

Don't worry. You are going to see lots of death before it is over next season.

And we ain't gonna have us a republic and happily ever after story either, as some think.

The ending is bittersweet according to those who have been told and very surprising.

ETA: I have my reasons, but I think Tyrion may be the last man standing, and there will be one Stark left in Winterfell sitting in a wheelchair.

They don't have to trudge -- but they need to make it not be nonsensical. D&D are losing themselves here -- and they are losing my trust in their storytelling process. It's minor stuff to "fix" this.

EX: Jon and Dany talk about meaning of Bran's visions while on dragonstone in ep 4/5. Jon gets a raven from Ed when Bran crosses the wall in Ep1/2 with some of what he said to him in order to develop character "trust" in these visions from a distance.
Bran sees the coming danger beyond the wall Ep5/early6.
Bran sends raven to Dany and uses it to speak to her. "Eastwatch, eastwatch". Something that happened frequently with single words from the birds in the books and powerful in it's own right.
Jon sends a Raven that they would have logically taken with them from beyond the wall when they go under siege. Raven to Eastwatch, same story happens less nonsensically. And for goodness sake, no non-Targaryens actually get on a dragon. Drogon blazes them a path out that Jon ended up taking, just as nonsensically, with Benjen's horse.

Even then, Jon being involved in that deal from his position of power was ridiculous. Going to Dragonstone made sense, but I'm having trouble with them pretending Cersei is the only one left that matters. There's still a huge Reach army, thousands in Dorne, the Stormlands, etc. This Dragonpit meeting should see people from all of the contiguous regions sending everything they have to the neck.
