The fact that not every execution is an effort problem shows that your statement that you can't have ****** coaching without also having inconsistent effort is incorrect.

Arguing just to argue? 17 man. Sorry I wasn’t specific enough....you’re obviously content to split hairs on minutia. You can’t have ****** coaching or expectation of effort / intensity / etc. without having players half assing it. You can’t have players out there half-assing it without ****** coaching of effort / intensity / etc. Either those players not cutting it should be on the bench (which is the the coach’s decision) or the coaches should do a better job of getting them ready. Either way, comes back to coaching. Figured that would be a lot more self-explanatory than it was for you. I’m sorry you thought I was saying guys had poor pad level and didn’t hit the sled hard enough in practice because they didn’t agree with us getting away from the zone read wrinkles we put in with Jerious and Omarr in the UF game....or whatever other “gotcha!” moment you had in your head.

This is just one of those things you aren't going to understand, but technique matters in executing football plays and technique can be taught. So you can just put your players behind the 8 ball by teaching them poor technique. Schemes also matter. You can put your players in a better position to succeed through scheme and playcalling.

Well I’ll be damned! Who knew?!?

My definition of culture leans more towards the actual definition in the dictionary.

Pretty sure the dictionary’s definition of culture doesn’t have mentions about football players failing drug tests, but what do I know? It’s an arbitrary definition by anyone who uses it in the context of a football team (myself included). One thing that is not arbitrary is whether or not the culture (by any definition in this thread that has been used by anyone to describe it) is set and 100% controlled and monitored by the coaching staff in place at any given time. When the coaches change, the culture always changes, whether it’s minor or major, better or worse.

This is laughable. The Nkemdichees were not worried about their jobs.

Before you say you “had no in” with players who played under Freeze, but here say you know whether or not the Nkemdiches had any concerns with anyone taking their spot? Thereby implying you somehow have firsthand knowledge of their effort in practice as well as their general commentary about other players on the roster? Okay.

I’m not sure how else you’d draw such a conclusion. They were both very high level players when they were out there. Neither was known to be a slacker in any respect until Robert got to the NFL, but he was a consistent playmaker in college.

Even the less talented Nkemdichee got to go pretty hard on drugs with no consequences until he was injured and/or having a health issues from them.

Maybe because there wasn’t (isn’t?) an NCAA-approved drug test for gas station weed? Not sure how you expect discipline to be handed down any other way before it became a publicly known healthcare issue.

Maybe Freeze held other people accountable. Hard to say from teh outside. But obviously he had culture issues that mattered beyond what you are identifying as culture, which is just win loss record, because he'd still be there if there wsn't such a thing as culture aside from win loss records. He's a really good coach that went 5-7 his last year, including a 38-17 loss to a 6-7 Vanderbilt squad and a 55-20 loss at home to a 6-7 MSU squad.

The reason why he’s no longer there is the NCAA issues, which he still would have survived if not for hooker gate. Neither of those things have anything to do with how he managed the day-to-day of the players in terms of practice / workouts / etc. (unless the hookers really were for recruits, which is not an impossibility by any means).
